The absolutely only thing going for this dump is its location.

Most importantly, don't believe the price you reserve at. When I got in at 2AM, I was told that my non-smoking room was no longer available. If I wanted a non-smoking room, I had to upgrade to a "deluxe" for another $20 per night. My other alternative was to stay in their "capri" room, which the desk clerk recommended against. So I wound up shelling out another $130 for my stay to get a "deluxe" room smaller than any of my college dorm rooms (and not any cleaner!). The cheap price I thought I was getting got wiped out by the "upgrade." NEXT TIME I STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

Let's not even talk about finding / getting to the room. Elevators routinely took 15-20 minutes and you couldn't get in when they came because they were too crowded. Both the parking lot and the hotel must have been designed by a car thief. The more confusing they are, the easier it is for someone to steal your car!

Also, don't even think about eating the food here. Had a burger after my check-in, stopping at McDonalds would have been better quality. Made a 2nd mistake about 3 days later in going to the breakfast buffet. I thought that they couldn't be that bad for breakfast - I WAS WRONG.

So the moral of this tale - pay a few bucks more and get a hotel worth staying at. They are talking about blowing up this joint - it won't be missed.

WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

1) So we were told, our room would be a quiet one! Wrong! We could hear the band noise with the A/C going and late at night. Our room was about as far from the elevators as you could possibly get...... quite the hike!
2) Since our room wasn't ready when we arrived, we had to check our baggage. It was a bit unsettling to leave it on the sidewalk outside the main entrance which is where we had to check it. And, the guy had his hand out for the tip before he would do anything! How rude!
3) When we got to our room there were only two lights and the one by the bed didn't work. Even though they sent someone up to fix it, it still wasn't working properly when we left.
4) Even though we hung a do not disturb sign on the door, we apparently didn't leave fast enough as there were knocks at the door several times that morning. When we left around 9 am, we returned around 3 pm and the room still was not made up. We left again and returned around 10 pm and it was finally made up.
In addition to that, we were located at the end of the hall right next to a service door that closed very loudly. Therefore, we were awakened by the door slamming on several occassions.
5) My pillow smelled like old foam rubber, but my bed was comfortable.
6) The casino was small and smoky. The ceiling is low and the ventilation was bad. Finding a slot machine was not easy since there were too many people in such a small place.
7) They had live singers on the casino floor and the volume was way too high.
You couldn't talk to each other because you couldn't hear.
8) There didn't seem to be any new slots.
9) The one good thing was that it was in the middle of the strip and walking distance to a lot of things. Great location!

Most of the things that you read about this hotel are right on. For the most part it's a dump. I didn't stay here but the group I was traveling with did, so I spent more time here than I did at my own hotel. The rooms are nothing special, not awful but probably not as good as most downtown. The elevators may well be the worst in the city. The slots were very tight and it wasn't easy to get a seat at any of the tables that had lower limits. Also, the food was not very good. The buffet was horrible and the burger palace and pizza palace were below average at best. However, I would stay here if the price was right ( the group I was with got a nice deal, but I've noticed that their prices here seem to be going up since Harrah's bought them). The location can't be beat, right in the heart of the strip. If you prefer more luxury (or any luxury for that matter) this is NOT the place for you. If you want a fantastic location and a place to lay your head, well, it'll do.

The Equivalent of Motel 6 on the Strip

I've stayed in just about every casino on the Strip except for the Imperial Palace, and this past weekend, finally stayed there due to availability for the NCAA Basketball Tournament (booked at last minute).

Check-in time was close to average, the lady helping was very friendly and placed me in a king-sized bedroom as requested. I originally has requested a room with a strip view; however, she was helpful in pointing out that music is played loudly out infront of the Imperial until 3am and gave me the option of whether I would like that or a room away from the music, which I chose the latter.

Being that I had arrived into Las Vegas at 9am and check-in is not technically until 4pm, she gave me a pass to the key pick-up so that I would not have to wait in line and directed me to the bell man out front to leave my bag. While the bell was not pushy in asking for a tip; I was skeptical about leaving a bag out front--be advised that they are placed in carts on the sidewalk which is roped off, but the man that took my bag as also opening the doors on the cabs, so anyone could walk by and swipe a suitcase. However, without any other option and not desiring to carry the bag around town until check-in, I left it.

Around 2pm, I returned to the Imperial and was able to get the room as well as retrieve my bag, which had been placed inside by then. As mentioned in the other reviews, the elevators are slow and it seemed that at any given time two of the four elevators for the bank were on floor 15 or 16 (the top floors). It took about five minutes to get the elevator (be quick in getting in, the door will close in about five seconds if you don't enter) and I had to guage which elevator it would be so that I could be quick to hop in before it became full of other people.

Once I arrived to the floor, I had to walk through FIVE corridors before finally reaching my room (just keep walking to the end of each as it forks into two more hallways--if you are thinking that it will dead-end and that you are going the wrong way). I've never had a hotel that required that much maze-work to get to the room, but eventually got there.

Being a 'deluxe' room, it was more like a Motel Six, with an 18-inch TV with ten channels (seemed like five of them were internal for the Imperial/Harrahs). Room was worn, but the a/c worked well and the bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom floor had been mopped and I observed a maid mopping another room's bathroom; however, the sink/counter had not been scrubbed (left-over toothpaste on the counter-tops and stains). The drains for both the sink and tub ran slow as well as not toilet seat cover. The toilet also ran very slow, although it eventually flushed.

The casino is not well ventilated; but a good time if you are looking for a lot of people as it is geared towards an economy-minded crowd (outside of it, O'Sheas, and Casino Royale, you're going to have a tough time finding $5 table games on a weekend evening). Music was very loud outside (as the front-desk agent suggested) and very loud in the casino as well.

Overall, the room wasn't great, but you get what you pay for and in Vegas, you really only need the room to sleep and shower. If you're going with your loved one for a Vegas get-away, I suggest spending the extra $30-40 for a better room elsewhere; however, if you are going by yourself or with friends for a 'spring break' type vacation (where the room will be 'trashed' anyway), then this is a good option and the location cannot be beat.

Remember, nothing is free in Vegas and, for the most part, you get what you pay for.

Good luck!

After reading some of the reviews here I was a little worried about what I was going to find, but it was a great stay. The property is a bit run down and pales in comparison to any of the new megaresorts -- but the price is nowhere near as high. You get what you pay for. The location can't be beat -- dead center mid-strip with its own monorail station. Check in was quick and the clerk friendly -- she had no problem accomodating my request for a room that didn't face the Carnival Court area. I was in the first tower but on the opposite side from Harrah's and never heard a thing. My renovated "Deluxe Room" was nothing to write home about but it was more than adequate, about the level of an older Holiday Inn type property. An in room safe would have been nice, though. I suspect some of the really negative reviews here came from people staying in the "Capri" rooms -- that section's a motel-like structure wrapped around the parking garage and it did look pretty crappy. The elevators were slow and one was broken down for most of my stay which didn't help. On the whole: sure, I'd rather be at Bellagio, but, for the price, I left the IP happy.

Dont get me wrong, its a bit of a dump...but if you only sleep in your room and do nothing else there, then its the perfect strip hotel!

If you are a poker player then stay nowhere else! The poker room at Imperial is awful - dont play there - but you will be in 2 minutes walking distance of about 8 poker rooms - some of them fantastic such as Caesars, Venetian, Bellagio and more.

If you are a poker player then add a 2 to every ranking you see on this site.

Stayed here 8/19 thru 8/22 and had a great time. We requested a refurbished room (luv tub) and it was great. We could see that they are in the process of refurbing so if you don't want old just ASK for new. This is not the Venetian but I sure feel like we got more than a fair deal. Elevators were fine never waited more than a couple of min. Did not do the buffet. Ate all our meals at the Teahouse - it was fab. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly, helpfull and just plain pleasant. We has a great time and will be back!!

I stayed from 8/22-8/29 and enjoyed my stay. The IP isn't a fancy hotel but there is room service and a comfortable bed. No bed bugs which was good and right on the strip. I didn't do the pool or anything but I had a great time at the casino. The celebrity dealers are funny, especially the one who does Prince and Michael Jackson. I fell in love with the village people slot machine and the drinks are not bad. The gift shop is not so bad price wise, the room service food was eh, if you do get rs food order pizzeria uno pizza. For the price and location you cant ask for better. Yeah there are things that need to be "upgraded" but like another poster said, just make a request for a room change. They are accommodating and will change as long as it is available. I heard they are tearing it down :( I hope they dont before I can return. Oh the karoake bar at the IP is THE BOMB!! laffs...if you have good company it just makes the IP even better. It's almost like a college dorm, fun but surely not home.

I stayed AT IP a couple of years ago and found it to be a good deal a bit rundown but ok. THIS trip however was a completely different story. A large group of us went and all four rooms had a plummbing problem of some sort. Our filthy tubs wouldn't drain other problems included running toilets dripping sinks and or tubs, the bathrooms were all just gross. mildew and who knows what else was built up around the base of the tubs and around the sinks ,even on the shower head. I have never felt so dirty after a shower in my life. The carpets were horribly stained as well as the base of the beds. I am itchy just thinking about it. on the other hand the rock house has improved (the club outside) Stll not as good as Tequila Joes was.

Stayed at the IP for March Madness St. Patty's day 2007. Well you should believe all of the reviews that say this place is a dump, because it really is! Room was very worn out and the carpet by the bed had something sticky on it. Bathroom was small and old and the whole place had a nasty smell to it. I was here on a guys trip and will never stay at this place again. I know you get what you pay for (I wasn't expecting the Wynn) but this place is down right nasty. By the way we wereon the 8th floor and always took the stairs because the elevators never show up!!!!

Arrived and stood in line for 20 minutes and was given a room on the 9th floor. The key card opened the door and when I looked inside I was shocked to find unmade beds, half eaten room service food scattered on the floor, wet towels in the bathroom and a strange smell. They switched me to another "deluxe" room on the 17th floor. This hotel is so confusing it took us 25 minutes to find the new room. Even after I figured out the best path to get to my room it still took 20 minutes to geth there from the casino. The non-smoking room I had smelled like smoke. The beds were horrible and soft and the heater sounded like a 747 on approach to LAS. Now don't get me wrong, I knew this place was not the Wynn, but still even at a Super 8 I would expect my room to be CLEANED before I arrived. The elevators were ok and not as bad as what others have said they were. For by room troubles I got comped a whopping 2 buffets. DO NOT go to the buffet unless you get in for free. No selection and what there is does not taste too good. The casino was ok and the dealertainers were interesting. I had one very freindly bartender at the Tikki bar, but I forgot his name. He made a good drink and even gave me a free beer when I was not gambling. It is a good location and may work if you are with a stag party like I was. If you are here with your wife, or are the type of person who may want to relax in your room between shows and gambling or want a place were there is a nice pool to spend time I do not recommened this place.

Imperial Palace catches a lot of unfair flack about its service & amenities, but I have never had a problem with them. This Oct. will be the 3rd time I've stayed there, and the 4th time I've been to Vegas. We had intended to try a different hotel, just to vary things, but we got a letter from IP, offering to comp us 3 free nights, plus many other perks, so we found it too good to pass up.

In Feb., I accidentally left my cell phone at one of the slots, & was beside myself with worry. The IP security & concierge were unbelievably helpful, &, after scouring the hotel for the next 30 min., I had my phone again.

The rooms at IP are not fancy, but they are clean, & how much time do you really spend in your room, in Vegas, anyway? The cocktail waitresses circulating on the casino floor have ALWAYS been extremely cordial, especially if enticed with a small tip, & the front desk staff is always polite. The food at the buffet is average, but if you can tolerate buffet-style places like Furr's, then you will find the buffet at IP palatable. The food in the 5th floor restaurants was very enjoyable, in my opinion. Plus, with their generous comp program, we very rarely have to pay for a meal, there, as our comp points take care of the cost for us.

The Dealertainers' Pit is a riot, but watch out for Elvis. He "stole" $20 from me, at the blackjack table. I jest. He won it, fair & square, but I liked giving him a hard time about it. I can’t remember what the name is of that big wheel with various dollar bills on it, where you bet what you think it’ll land on (2 to 1 odds, similar to roulette, but vertical, and with better odds), but we played it, at IP. We were at a table with a group of rowdy guys from Australia. We had a freaking blast!! It didn’t matter who, at the table, was winning, we all cheered loudly for anyone who won even one dollar. And the dealer had one of those personalities that made it fun for everyone, even if you were losing.

Bottom line is, no, it is not the fanciest place on the Strip, but it is cheap & it is very stereotypical "Vegas", which is one of the reasons we love it. Don't be so quick to discount this gem of a hotel/casino. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about things like the smell of smoke, the wait at elevators, the wait at check in/out, but, honestly, if you take an unbiased look at the comments left for other hotels…you will see many of the exact same complaints, even in the more “upscale” ones. On my first trip to Vegas, I stayed at MGM Grand. The room was small & we had to beg the housekeeping staff for service. We had to wait in a line almost to the glass doors, just to check in. I found the service staff extremely rude and “snooty”. The comp program sucked (we walked away with a keychain, after tons of dollars spent gambling). And the whole place had a very commercial, “let’s-see-how-much-money-we-can-extort-from-you” feel to it.

So, don’t judge Imperial Palace too harshly. They do very well with what they have. You have to use some perspective, when judging things in Vegas. Cheap, tacky and over-the-top is the quintessential Vegas experience. I think a lot of spoiled people just expect to be overly pampered, & have unrealistic expectations of what they are going to get, for that price. If you go to Vegas with the mindset that you are going to have fun, you are going to have fun, regardless of your accommodations. If you go, expecting everything about the experience to be perfect, you are guaranteed to be let down. The “not-so-perfect” moments are often the ones you have the most laughs over, later on.

For the first time staying at the IP, it took some time to get to know the layout and find my way around. The room was not bad and for $47 I received what was expected. No frills, standard shampoo and soap, clean large room. My view was of the roof of the Casino and Caesars Palace. Tub drained slowly and shower water pressure was hot and cold when someone flushed.

The buffet was bellow par with the dinner buffet very poor. I received a coupon book when I checked in and all the coupons were expired. The hotel employees giving out the booklets for signing up for the club card said the coupons were good but when I tried to use the off property coupons, no one would take them because of the expiration date on the coupons.

Drinks are expensive if you are not gambling and if you are at a machine, the cocktail service is very poor. I paid $4.00 for a domestic bottle of beer. The same beer in Reno was $2.00.

Parking garage was very nice and in the back so traffic was not bad getting in and out. Driving into the valet area in front of the hotel was a nightmare. Traffic on Las Vegas Blvd is horrible. The drive took me 1 hour to drive from the Pahrump hwy and Las Vegas Blvd to the hotel.

FIRST AND LAST TIME I WILL EVER STAY AT THE IMPERIAL PALACE. IT'S LIKE A RAT MAZE TO GET TO YOUR ROOM. WE STAYED ON THE LL GROUND FLOOR, AND THE FLOOR SMELLED LIKE POT EVERY DAY I WAS THERE. THE DAY WE WERE LEAVING OUR ROOM 007 A SECURITY OFFICER WALKED OUT OF ROOM 003 CHEWING GUM AND LOOKING STONED. HE RODE UP THE ELEVATOR WITH US AND I COULD TELL THE SECURITY OFFICER WAS HIGH. OUR ROOM SUCKED TO GET TO >>> I HAD TO TAKE 2 DIFFERENT ELEVATORS OR STAIRS AND AN ESCULATOR OR A COMBONATION OF UP / DOWN TO EVEN GET TO THE LOWER LEVEL { LL }. THE ROOMS WERE LIKE AN OLD SUPER 8 / MOTEL 6 AND THE BATHROOMS SUCKED. I STAYED A BALLY'S LAST TIME AND EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE OLD MGM GRAND IT IS 100% BETTER THAN THE IMPERIAL PALACE. IF YOU HATE SOMEBODY TELL THEM TO STAY AT THE IMPERIAL PALACE IT'S A DUMP. THE IMPERIAL PALACE SMELLS LIKE *&^& AND NEEDS TO BE IMPLODED THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS > THE LOCATION, BUT THE LAY OUT OF THE HOTEL IS THE WORST AND THE CASINO SUCKS. UPDATE.

RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE IMPERIAL PALACE SECURITY OFFICE TODAY 1/30/2007 AND THEY ARE INVESTIGATING POT ISSUES ON THE L.L. THE PERSON CALLING ME FROM THE IMPERIAL PALACE {NAMED DENNIS} WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND HAD EVERYTHING PULLED UP ON CAMARA IN THE ELEVATOR WHEN WE WERE CHECKING OUT & KNEW WHO I WAS BY THE JACKET I HAD ON. HE KNEW EXACTLY HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE ON THE ELEVATOR AND WHAT FLOORS THEY GOT ON THE ELEVATOR. DENNIS SAID THAT HE WAS LOOKING INTO THE SITUATION AND WOULD CALL ME BACK BUT, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CALL OR RESPONSE FROM IMPERIAL PALACE SECURITY OFFICE SINCE THE CALL ON THE 30TH AND I PROBABLY WILL NOT. IT'S PRETTY PATHETIC THAT SECURITY CALLS ME FROM THE IMPERIAL PALACE ACTING ALL IMPORTANT LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING AND THEY DON'T CALL ME BACK, I BET NOTHING HAPPENED AND THEY ARE STILL SMOKIN POT ON THE L.L. AT IMPERIAL PALACE.

DON'T STAY AT THE IMPERIAL PALACE IT'S A FRICKIN UNFLUSHED DIRTY TOILET > STAY AT BALLY'S OR FLAMINGO OR BARBARY COAST, SAVE YOUR SELF A BAD EXPERIENCE AND AVOID THE IMPERIAL TOILET.

This is the third time my husband and I have stayed at this hotel in the past nine years. Things have changed for the worse. It was run down when we first started going there, but it's really bad now. I've read the comments about it being a great location and great value, but if you can't sleep because the beds are so awful (we asked that a mattress be changed out, which they did do for us, but it still didn't help us sleep), or the atmosphere is so uncomfortable, then what's that worth to you? The only reason I didn't rate it a "1" is because housekeeping was really good, as well as the other staff we dealt with. We also had problems with a slow draining tub and sink. The room smelled and felt damp the entire time we were there, which made me feel cold all night. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is inadequate, to say the least. During a previous stay, I set off the smoke alarm when I opened the bathroom door, because so much steam had built up. I think this may contribute to the musty smell. Other concerns with the bathroom were the water temperature was so hot for the shower I got burned the first day until I learned the "trick" to adjusting the water (turn on the small supply of cold water first, then slowly turn on the hot water). But if a person in the neighboring room is taking a shower, you're out of luck, cause you will get burned, and the tub will stay stopped up. Oh, and the force of the water is so hard it exfoliates your skin when showering! I could deal with tacky, out-dated room decor, but the smell is beyond unpleasant, and you have to wonder how bad those mattresses look underneath. Like the other person commented, the lock on our balcony door was also broken, and the entire door, along with the frame, wobbled back and forth if you tried to force it open. It also let a lot of cold air in, which was really unpleasant since a few of the nights we stayed there it got down into twenty degree temperatures. The very loud space heater wasn't adequate either. There was no automatic setting as it suggests, so you either had to run it full blast to warm up the room, or shut it off when it got too hot. We never found a comfortable room setting for it. I also have health concerns with finding dead bugs frozen in the ice cubes that were provided in the machine on our floor. Then there was the fecal matter wiped on the wall of the stair well (we gave up on the slow elevator and started using the stairs from our third floor room). No, I'm not joking, some one actually wiped their poop on the wall! My husband also spotted a huge rat in the parking garage on our way out. So, again I have to state that these concerns would not be worth saving a few bucks on, or being in a convenient location. We found much nicer places off the strip, and if you rent a cheap car to get around in, you'll be saving just as much. After this latest experience with IP, I have to agree with the person who stated, "this place needs to be imploded." It's too run down to remodel, and with all the water damage problems it has, it must be a health hazard. Yes, it's sad to see the "Old Vegas" leave, but safety and health concerns should outweigh sentimentality. It's places like this that make you really miss not only the comforts of home, but most importantly its safety. I've never been so glad to be home from a vacation and I am now trying to recover from all the sleepless nights I had at the Imperial Palace. Needless to say, we will not be staying there again.

Imperial Palace is what it is--a little tired, facade-wise, but the staff makes up for any deficencies in the bricks & mortar. "Legends in Concert" is one of the best shows I've seen--and see this each time you go, because it changes. The "Dealertainers" in the Casino are fabulous, even if you don't gamble, and if you do, as one of the other comments said, you have fun with them and they with you. The food is good. The value at IP is great. But even if you don't stay here, DON'T miss the "Dealertainers!"

I'm laughing at comments from the mooches who stay at the IP, and expect it to be a 3 or 4 star resort. When you pay what wouldn't get you a roadside travel motel room of I 40, you give up the right to whine and moan. The IP is what it is, I've stayed there several times when my favorite hotels were filled, and for what they do, it isn't bad. Sure its foi Chinese design is suspect, but this essentialy is an old motel that was known prior to 1979 as The Flamingo Capri. It hosted spill opver traffic from the great old days of the Fabulous
Flamingo before it's 80's tower makeover. Soon, you won't have much to complain about because the IP, Stardust, and other budget hotels will be replaced by expensive properties, which you will then complain are too snobby.

I read some bad reviews of the Imperial Palace after booking a package and was a bit concerned about what I might discover on arriving. (Bed bugs, filth, etc.)

All of these concerns disappeared when we discovered nothing scarier than a normal hotel room. Not fancy, not opulent, but clean and comfortable.

It only took us around fifteen minutes to check in, but we did notice lineups at other times, as we did in several other casinos. At certain times there was also congestion at the elevators, but there were two other sets of elevators that were rarely busy. (One was tucked away and probably undiscovered by most guests.)

The beds were great and the room was dark, cool and quiet. The girl at the front desk informed us of the noise from the live bands at Harrah's and gave us the option to choose a room away from that area, which we did.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Imperial Palace to anyone who wants a great location at an excellent price.

The rooms at Imperial Palace are comparible to a Holiday Inn or Quality Inn.
Clean, functional, and the location of the hotel is a big plus. It is across the street from Caesar's and accessible by bus, monorail or cab to all other venues. The Dealertainers are great fun. The casino is no smokier than any other. Good value.

My boyfriend and I went on our first trip to Las Vegas earlier this month. We decided to stay at the Imperial but I was a little wary after reading all the comments on this site. However, when we got there it was the complete opposite of what everyone says! We were upgraded to the pent house suite, our front desk agents were really nice to us, there was a problem with the elevator getting to the locked floor but they had that fixed very quickly. The only downside to this hotel is that the casino is really smoky. And if you are staying there, go to Embers for dinner one night, it is soooo good!

You get what you pay for. IP is nothing special, but who spends time in their room when in Vegas? I only ate at the buffet for breakfast, which was good, but the pizza place and burger place food was gross. I would definetly not eatt here again.

Great stay. The casino is small and fun. The rooms are clean (every bit as clean and nice as the standard room I rented at the Mirage last year). The location is PERFECT. It'll be sad to see it go. :(

Great visit at the IP! To start with, after checking in to our room, I was diappointed. The room was shabby and overlooked the garbage dump. After going down to the desk to ask what they can do, the girl, who was quite friendly, gave us another room that was much nicer and overlooked the pool area. Although you can't see the strip, standing on your own balcony looking at the palm trees and people below is pretty darn good. Ask for this view at the desk. I am going to also requeat a deluxe room the next time. The price will still be lower than the high priced hotels.
The location was great and the staff was very polite and accomodating wherever I happened to be. This was especially important after I missed my plane while trying to check in bags at the airport on a Sunday morning. (If you happen to leave on a Sunday morning, be warned: it is VERY crowded). My wife made it and I didn't. Not knowing quite what to do, I went back to the IP and the woman at the desk was extremely understanding and gave me my previous room back right on the spot.
The casino was alot of fun. I heard about the dealer-impersonators and thought that it might be a bit hokey but it was a blast. At these tables, the dealers are dressed as celebrities and there are mini concerts every so often right there in the casino. The best part was the fact that the dealers actually HAD FUN with everyone at the tables. This was a great change from most of the stuffy dealers at many of the other casinos. They kept the whole table laughing. Everyone that was there said that it was the most fun that they had had at any casino.
I have stayed at some nicer hotels (Paris, Luxor, Alladin) and the rooms and casinos are classier. Also the sports book at IP is pretty lame and the slots seem tight, but if you're looking for a cheaper hotel where you'll have a good time, this is it.

I read so many reviews on this site before I went to Vegas this month. I was worring about my stay at IP even before I got there. As it turns out, my stayed at IP wasn't as bad as what I read online. I stayed during Tue and Wed night there this month. I didn't have any trouble checking in because I arrived early in the morning. The only problem that I encountered was picking up the room keys. I checked-in in the morning but the room wasn't ready so the lady told me to come back btwn 1-2pm to pick up the keys at the key pick up. I went back at around 1:30pm to pick up the keys but the receptionist told me the room wasn't ready until 4pm. They shouldn't told me to come back at a time when the room is not ready. I had to walk all the way from the other end of the strip just to come back and pick up the key. If I knew the room isn't ready, I will not waste my time walking back and forth. Anyway, I left and came back at 4pm to pick up the key and the line was long. I waited for about 30min. Besides the key pick up issue, I didn't encounter any problem with this hotel. The elevators were working fine - not that SLOW at all! The room was clean and big. It's centrally located on the Strip. Just don't try their buffet there because it wasn't good.

Don't expect the Mandalay Bay, this is a somewhat an original casino and does not have the glitz and glitter of the newer casinos. The Imperial Palace is a great hotel for the price. It is a clean hotel, and the location is right in the middle of the strip. The only thing that I did not like was the pool, it didn't have any lap lanes. The restaurants are good, the breakfast buffet is good, but skip the dinner buffet, go have dinner at the Flamingo buffet. And the service was great!

We stay here every spring break and have never been disappointed. Since being purchased by Harrahs last Dec., the casino has changed. The poker room is located to the right as soon as you walk in. The carpeting is new. Also, 1/3 of the gaming tables have been removed and replaced by slots. Per employees, 65 dealers have been "let go" so far. It's still a fun place to play, but the word on the street is that the IP, O'Sheas and Flamingo will be taken down in the summer of 2007 with no reservations being taken for after 7/4/2007. The Barbary Coast is still under the same ownership and has not been sold...yet. Harrah's is going to announce their intentions sometimes this summer. Believe me, the employees are waiting to hear about their fate.
As of now, I plan to be back 3/2007. I played alot at the Coast casinos in an effort to get a better deal in the future. With fewer tables, they fill up quickly.

Stayed here from 3/11 thru 3/15. Nice room (no view execpt for parking garage), & rates were very good for the five day stay. avg $55.00 per night.
The rooms are clean..and they provide good security. There is always security walking the hallways. We like that. The rooms are quiet, and the cooling units (A/C) are great for sleeping. The Emperor's Buffet was very good. Had 4 comp'd breakfasts there. The dealertainers are alot of fun. The casino is always in party mode. Slots are loose enough that you can play a long time for minimal money. Won a few dollars too! Not looking forward to Harrah's closing the place. :-(

This place is a dump and should be imploded immediately. The smell as soon as you walk into the casino is disgusting and it doesn't get any better when you reach your room. The bathtub did not drain properly, I found a huge nasty hairball in our room and hair in the bed after pulling back the covers. The only thing this place has going for it is the location and that does'nt out way all the bad.

My husband and I stayed here this past March. It was my very first time to Vegas, and we were just passing through and only stayed 1 night. We were not expecting a 5 star resort, but you get what you pay for....on the strip on a Saturday night for less than $150, not bad. Yes, we did stand in 6 inches of water in the shower, and a staff member was quite rude when we mentioned this. Slowest elevator system on the face of the planet! (It took me 40, yes, 40 minutes to get from the casino floor to my room and back down for check out) Hint....do not attempt to negotiate the elevator around check-out time!

Overall, alright stay for what it was, a place to sleep for a few hours.

just back from my 1st trip to Vegas. found the IP just as I expected....great value for money. my room was basic, yes, but it had everything I needed and expected for the price. I found the room clean and fresh, and I was put in a smoking room. the staff were friendly and I had no problems getting drinks at the slots.
only problem I found was that the casino was very warm and stuffy. not as well ventilated as other casinos I visited.
the hotel has a perfect location and I would stay again.

Imperial Palace is a good hotel for the money. The location is excellent. The rooms are quite noisy though. The first night we were told by the desk clerk that Hrrah's club would be loud until 3am. We were basically told to deal with it and our room would be changed the following day. I asked if we could get anyhting for our troubles and the desk clerk stared at me and said a stern "NO!" The casino is by far the smokiest of all of the strip casinos. Overall though the price is great and you get what you pay for. We paid about 1/3 of the cost as Caesar's Palace, so if you want the frills skip the Imperial Palace. If you want the price, I would recommend it. By the way, Harrah's bought Imperial Palace and it will be coming down soon.

Have been reading the comments on the IP. Hubby and I stayed there around Valentine's Day of '06, nights were comped. Wasn't expecting a 5 star and didn't get a 5 star. Check in was fine, no long wait. Was asked if we had a preference, just told the guy that we wanted something clean, he told us he liked us for that and put us in a great room on the 15th floor right by elevators. Room was clean, only thing was they had taken the bathtub out and just had a floor and a shower curtain, drain was fine. Noise wasn't a problem either. I always pack a can of Lysol "just in case", lol. Had no problems navigating the elevators (not too terrible) or the casino. Really only used the room to sleep and shower. Since it was free and has a great location, thought it was perfect for the price. Didn't really eat there, were always going somewhere else. We are heading back the first of April for 3 more comped nights. I always say have no expectations and that way you won't be disappointed.

Another excellent Vegas trip and the IP was a reasonable place to stay. We paid $49.00per night and then our rooms were reduced further with our comp points. The tables were fun but most of the BJ tables are paying 6 to 5 on BJ...avoid these!! The booze flows at the tables but not so frequently at the machines. The slots were disappointing in that the majority of them are pennies and the selection isn't as good as other places. We actually did a lot of gambling at Casino Royale and O'Sheas. The best thing about the IP contunues to be its location and its pricetag.

My reservation was for 2 rooms, no smoking with double beds in each room. When we arrived at 3 a.m., they gave us 2 smoking rooms with 1 king size bed. Because of the wrong accomodations, we had to get a 3rd room. The door locks to the balconies were broken and would not lock and nobody ever showed up to fix it. We had to sleep all night in a fowl smelling room that smelled of stale cigarette smoke. After complaining, the employees at the desk were rude and inconsiderate. They would not even try to make the arrangements suitable. It would be a good idea if they would at least try to air out the rooms before renting them and the locks were still not fixed even upon departure. The breakfast buffet food was ok but the dishes were not all clean and the staff was not friendly there either. We ended up eating most of the time at Harrah's hotel next door which had very friendly staff and good service.

Casino visit only- while waiting for nightly karaoke (insert joke here), my husband and I decided to play a bit in the casino first. Well, it took quite awhile to even get in there because being the naive out-of-towners we got corralled by the dreaded time-share people. These folks come on to you like they're gonna give you all these show tickets, meals and gaming coupons as well as a 3 day 2 night stay if you pay a 40 dollar deposit and take a "short" tour. After telling the rep I don't make 50 grand a year, she decided to lie on the reservation card and say I did. After all the speil, we could select only one item as a gift and they would see us tomorrow. The next day, we decided to cancel, told them to keep our free "gifts" and give us our money back. They did but it took 2 hours and 10 phone calls to get it back.
As for the casino itself, I found the slots tight and the waitresses non-existent in the 3 hours we were there, not one asked if we wanted anything.
About the only thing positive from this was I had a blast at karaoke even though the drinks were on the expensive side for us.

Imperial Palace, right?? There was nothing even remotely resembling anything to do with Chinese culture in our room. But watever. we got a room with a "view" off the side of the building. Thank god for that, cuz if we were to stay on the other side with the view the band playing at all hourse outside of Harras would have kept us up.
Was scared for the plumbing based on some reviews but it was just fine. no problems in that department.

My main complaint is : i dont know how many people go to bed at 10 pm and are awake by 10 am and are out of their rooms.
We were not that kind of people :) we went to bed at 5-7 am and slept past noon and didnt feel as if we have to explain ourselves to housekeeping. Well guess what. Our second night there...we went to bed around 7 am after a great night out and was hoping for good long nap. Right...housekeeping was literally breaking down our door screaming that we were not allowed to have "DO NOT DISTURB SIGN" on the outside of our door for 2 days in a row. that it is against the rule. Is that not retarded??
so that ruined our day. she knocked and knocked..we woke up..we told her we to look at the sign.,.she said she doesnt care..we couldnt have it up for 2 days. and she kept shouting from the outside the door.. spoke perfect english. retard.
would i stay there again? sure.. location is great. walking distance to most places. didnt go to the buffet since majority of the comments strongly advised against it.

We travel alot & normally stay at Best Westerns, Comfort Inns, etc. This was the worst hotel stay ever! The bed was hard as a rock because the box springs were a wood frame with wood bracing, a cloth side & cardboard top. NO SPRINGS. We were awoken by sawing & hammering at 7:30am. When I called to complain, the manager assured me it was 2 floors above us and there was nothing she could do. I went to the 9th floor, the 1 above us and watched the construction in the room directly above ours on the 8th floor. Then I called the manager and asked her why she lied to me. She got very irate and said she would move our group(4 rooms), but would not keep us together. I said we should not have been put in a wing directly below construction, and she informed me all hotels did this and they were running a business, so basically, tough luck for us. Very nice customer service skills this woman had (sarcasm). We have stayed at other places under construction & never have seen this situation.
The walls are thin & noise from both outside & inside was loud. We did not try the buffet, because we were warned to avoid it. The entrance is like going in through the back alley of the other major Strip Hotels. The whole place looks run-down & seedy. Did not gamble at casino at first because it was so hot & stuffy, but later because we did not want to give them anymore of our money.
On the plus side, the housekeepers were very nice & friendly, as were most of the employees we dealt with, although a few were very rude.
Please avoid this place at all cost. Do not waste your money, or go through the frustration we did. Cheap, sleazy & rude sums up the Imperial Palace. There were 10 adults in our group & all agree with this.

We stayed 10/14 - 10/17, first trip to Vegas. I had very weary expectations of the rooms due to bad reviews. It definitely was not luxurious, but it was just a basic/standard room. We were in the back tower with a view of the garage and mountains. We never experienced noise from Harrah's, neighbors, garage, etc. It was not a newly renovated room, but since we weren't in it much, we didnt care. We would visit the IP again simply based off the location. It places you right in the middle of the strip, which is great considering all the walking you do. We never ate at any of the IP restaurants. Everyone always appeared to have a good time in the casino. Also, we NEVER had an issue waiting long for the elevators, so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. We used the elevators right past the casino, but used the smaller set behind them. I dont think alot of people knew they were there. If the price is right, we'd return to the IP and enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I just returned from a six night stay at IP. We had a wonderful trip. Our room was one of the newly remodeled delux rooms. Very clean and the bed was VERY confortable. Due to previous comments on this site I was quite concerened about my choice due to the elevators. However, upon check in I mentioned this at the front desk and they put us in a room using the front elevators. Never waited more than 2-3 minutes during our entire stay. We will most definitely choose the IP next time we return to Vegas. The buffet was not the greatest but we had received 2 free cupons for breakfast or lunch so we did have the breakfast buffet twice. The comps were great!

After the comments recorded on some of the boards, I was disappointed I had made our reservations for the IP but we could not have been happier with our stay. The rooms are just that - Holiday Inn rooms - but the maid service was prompt and friendly, and a glitch we had with the cable TV was fixed within 1/2 hour by a pleasant TV service person. The rooms were clean and quiet. The casino was fantastic for those who like video poker and slots. I found the slots to be loose and I could play for hours and still come out ahead. The most I ever lost there was $20.The Burger Palace was great and you receive enough for two people. Breakfast at the Tea House was nice with great service. The buffet is all right - not your best but not as bad as previous comments. The only fault I see is that the water pressure for the toilets was low. Otherwise for the money the location is great and the rooms are clean!

When we checked in, we were given a room that smelled musty and damp. My wife
almost fell on the wet, soaked carpet near the bathroom. We looked up and noticed that there was water damage to paint and ceiling, apparently from water leaking from room above. It was obvious this wasn't something new.

We requested a different room, and that is when our problems really got worse!
Every time someone drew water from the room above us or flushed the toilet, black, filthy raw sewage would back up in the bathtub. We told Management
about it immediately, and they did nothing. When we showered, we had to endure
standing in 6-8 inches of raw sewage during the five days we were there!!!
Upon returning home, our travel agent suggested we go to our doctor to check for
Hepatitis A or other diseases we may have come in contact with since my wife
had an open sore on her toe.

We also called IP and wanted to talk to Management, but we have heard nothing
from them. Additionally, the bubblegum chewing girl at the Front Desk didn't
care, and when asked to be moved said, "rooms are all the same".

Since we got no response from Management, we contacted the Clark County Health
Department to file a complaint. In the meantime, we have been nervously waiting to see if we come down with some disease. It has caused both my wife
and myself great ANXIETY!!

This wasn't our first visit to the IP, but it was our LAST!

My Wife an me stayed at Imperial Palace from 11th Sep 05 to 18th Sep 05 in room 14151. Yes the rooms are getting a little tired and basic but they are kept very clean we had a balcony and a glorious view of East LV and the hills, wonderful sun rises.

I have been to less apealing rooms in the 4* hotels in the UK eg Hilton Brighton. The staff are friendly and the hotel is slap bang in the middle of the strip opposite Ceasers Palace. I would recomend this hotel to any one who is traveling on a budget we got a teriffic rate and would stay there again.

After reading many bad reviews about the hotel i was very nervous for our stay. The hotel was doing some remodeling. Mostly when we were there they were laying new carpet. They were rearanging the main walking path daily, but i must say those men worked fast. It wasn't a real inconvience. Our room was very clean, and maid service was excellent! Yes the main elevators near the shops are very slow at peak hours. And one of the elevators was not working at all. However that is my only complaint. The luau is ok. Food is great and plentiful, however if you don't get there early the seats are real bad. The location of this hotel is why we choose to stay there and it was near everything and a monerail stop was right outside the hotel. The poker room is great for beginners. The 24 hour frozen drink bar was a real reilef on the hot summer days/nights. For the money we spent for the hotel we got more then we expected. Besides the imperial palace is more of a place to sleep, sightsee somewhere else.

The pros: The room was decent. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is located on the heart of the strip.

To cons: The hotel elevators are the worst in the world! We checked in on July 3rd, so it's understandable that there would be a lot of guests at the hotel for the 4th of July, but we did not anticipate having to wait almost 20 minutes to get into one of the six hotel elevators to get up to our room on the tenth floor! Then we had to wait another fifteen minutes for an elevator from our hotel room to go back down to the lobby. At one point, we decided to walk down the ten flights of stairs to the lobby, and we still made it down faster than the elevators. It was impossible to bring our luggage up to the room because the elevators took so long and were always so packed full of people.

Although the hotel staff was friendly, they did nothing to quiet the rowdy, drunk hotel guests using profanity around families with children in the lobby area.

During our stay, the hanging light fixture over the table in our room fell onto my laptop. Upon further investigation, we found that several of the screws were loose. Thank goodness my daughter had not been using the laptop at the time or the fixture might have landed on her head!

I would not recommend the Imperial Palace to anyone. Although the staff was nice, it's not enough to make up for the awful conditions of the hotel. We were scheduled to stay at the hotel for one week but checked out after only one night at the hotel. Save yourself the headache and stay at a different hotel!

Played at the IP daily, 7/3-7/9/05. Had a good time. We stayed at the Flamingo but as we go to the IP Biloxi on a fairly regular basis we like to play at the IP too. Compared with other mid strip properties the IP is low rent. Not that theres anything wrong with that. I do believe you get a good bit for your money here. My wife liked the slots as did I. A good selection, well maintained. VP pay schedules not what they were last time I was here, not near as good as the Mississippi location. Loved the "Delertainers". They were a hoot and added a festive touch to the casino. Elvis was esp nice, posing with my wife for a picture. I really like the Sports Book. Drink service was spotty, ranging from excellent to poor. The employees seemed friendly and were helpful. Food runs from average to good, but I would NOT recommend the Buffet.
I do wish they would combine their Player's Club programs with the MS one. Being able to use my Harrahs/Caesars/MGM cards in many different casinos is a BIG plus, giving me some bang for my buck. I think the IP should get on the stick, work out their "computer problems" and set up the same type system. I think player loyalty would make it pay for them in the long run.

My husband and I planned this trip months in advance and even though we were only staying for 2 days we wanted the best deal possible--hard to find in summer! This hotel turned out to be the best value on the strip (which is where we wanted to stay) and we splurged a little and got the LuvTub room. The hotel was large and confusing--like every hotel we wandered through! One of our daughters had been to Vegas a few times and said that the lines for checking in could be real long and warned us about it. We arrived at the airport at 6:30 a.m., rented a car and drove to the IP. Didn't bother with the valet service. At 7:30 there was no line and even though we weren't supposed to check in until noon we decided to ask the man at the desk if we could check in early and he said sure, no problem. We were very happy. There is one problem with the hotel and I'm not the only one to complain about it. THE ELEVATORS ARE SO SLOW AND ALWAYS JAMMED WITH PEOPLE. I don't know why but the IP needs to fix that. If you can, rent a room on one of the lower floors so you can walk. We once waited 20 minutes and we weren't going to walk up 15 floors to our room. I suggest wandering around the hotel and finding elevators that are in out-of-the-way places. The IP isn't as classy as the other hotels; in fact, it's a little seedy but you get what you pay for. If you don't plan on spending much time in your room (and who does?) and want to stay on the strip, this hotel is a terrific deal. It's an easy walk to the monorail, too.

2 of my friends and I just got back from Vegas, it was our first time staying at the IP and my 2 friends first time to Vegas. Like everyone else was saying this is a hotel to stay at if you want to save some money and still be on the strip. Its a no frills kinda place. O.K. here was the deal..

Rooms- The rooms are just that, rooms. We had a room with 2 queen beds on the 11th floor overlooking the pool. When we got there I looked to make sure that everything was there, and we were missing our shower curtain. I called the desk and told them and they had a lady there and she put it up in about 5 min. Very fast service. The room wasnt the plush expensive room, but we wernt there to stay in our room, only to sleep.

Elevators were slow, but mostly only at peek times like check in and out.

Casino- Casino was small, but we played blackjack $5 min. with the dealertainers and had a blast!! Elvis and Janet Jackson were so much fun that loosing wasnt that bad!! I played a few slots and won most of my money back though. Won $50.00 on the penny star was slot!!! WOOO HOOO!!!

Food- The food sucked. Eat somewhere else. Period. Ate at the teahouse and the Burger Palace and they both were not good at all.

Pool- Pool was small, and gets crowded pretty fast, but you can still find some spots. Drink staff at the pool do need to have more energy and pretend that they like their jobs a bit more, but they at least brought drinks pretty fast.

Tequilla Joes was a TON of fun!! They have 2 for 1 happy hour between 4 and 7!! The staff in there were happy and having a good time also!! Go there definatly for the specials if nothing else!!

O.K. Bottom Line---- We had fun, though we probably wont stay there again, just because we want to go to other hotels, but we didnt in any way regret staying there. For the money and the location its a great deal!! I liked how ther security kept the hookers and the naked card handing out guys away from the sidewalk. I do want to agree with everyone else that Vegas is NOT THE PLACE FOR KIDS!! Take your kids to disneyland or something. Most people go to Vegas to get away from screaming kids and yelling parents. And really how good of a parent are you if you take your kids to the smut capital of the world and let them run around till 2am?!?!?!? NO KIDS!!

This is the fourth time we have stayed at the Imperial Palace and have never had a "bad stay". We had the standard room on the 15th. floor, which was clean and overlooked the pool area. The bathroom needed some extra cleaning, which I did, and laid the evidence on the floor for housekeeping to see. Yes the "main" elevators are slow but there are others that can be used.

The mid-strip location can not be beat. My wife and I use the IP kind of like a base of operation and go many places from there. We head south one day and north the other and at $49.00 a night it's hard to beat.

The are no doubt nicer hotels in the area but with the money saved we can buy many things for the kids, ourselves, show tickets and so on. If you want to sun yourself by the pool you only have about four hours of sunlight to do so. This is because the pool area is surrounded by the hotel. We don't go to Las Vegas to hang out by the pool anyway.

The casio is OK. Because it is an older hotel it is smokier than the newer ones. We earned good comps and for the fews hours we gambled there it almost paid for the four night stay. The drinks ladies came around often and the drinks were OK. The food in most the places was OK. The buffet is just that, buffet food.

The staff was friendly and check-in and check-out went fast. The bottom line is this, if you want a deal and just use the room to sleep in then you can't go wrong at the IP. You you have extra money to burn and want to be pampered more then you most likely not be happy here. If they offer me another good deal then yes we will stay there again.

All I can say is, my father-in-law fell on the escalator because of plastic covering the carpet during their renovation. He was dragged up the stairs and hurt his legs and back. The casino employees saw this, one helped him up, and directed us to security to file a complaint. Security and casino management didn't care. There were no comps offered; we had paid full rate for the rooms and got no meals or nights free. No response from my letter to them. I got no call from management or anyone. We stayed two nights and he was never contacted about how he felt the next day. Beware of IP. They can comp some drunk who blows a few hundred at a table game, but not someone who gets hurt on their premises because of their own construction.

I hope everyone reads this from start to finish! My wife and I were forced to stay at Imperial Palace due to our reserv getting screwed up at other hotel. Things were going good until 12:30 A.M on our first night. My wife is a very good looking women, she has a great body and when we're in vegas she likes to dress to show her body off, well we were at the Sake bar around 12:30 A.M and I noticed a few security officers walking around the bar looking at my wife by the way the security at this hotel is a joke, most of the officers on grave shift are over weight, slow as hell or so little that a they couldn't stop a fly, Anyways back to my story... The officers were walking around us for about 25 mins and while one of the officers was walking by I heard of his radio "The girl in the blue boobie top at the sake bar is the one" don't you think who ever was talking to the officers would have not said something like that due to the fact guests can hear it?

Well I knew that my wife was the girl in the blue "boobie" top but I didn't know what she did wrong, well 2 mins later the grave shirt supervisior walked up to us at the bar with 4 other officers and asked my wife for some I.D, I turned to the supervisior and asked what the problem was and he told me to keep my mouth shut! I'm sorry but that is no way to treat a guest staying at the hotel and someone that is not causing trouble, I told him not to talk to me like that and then asked for his name NOW EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION TO HIS NAME INCASE YOU EVER RUN INTO HIM HE IS THE SECURITY SUPER FOR THE GRAVE SHIFT HIS LAST NAME IS SHOOTZ he's a tall doofy looking guy. Moving on I told him I wanted to know why they were bothering my wife, the super said that she looked like a working girl "HOOKER" and wanted to make sure she was not.

Myself and my wife were very upset after this, the security just walked away and everyone at the bar starting telling us to file something against the security dept and even the bartender said that the security super was a women hater and to file something against him.

The next day I met with the hotel mamanger and told him about what happened the night before and gave him the security supers name, he informed me that MR.SHOOTZ had a few people file something against him in the past and that the hotel manager would talk to him, I told the hotel manager that I don't want someone to talk to him, I want to file someTHING against him and want him fired for treating a guest like that. The hotel manager gave me the info for the owner of the hotel and the director of security, I have written them both and am still waiting to hear back from them.

Be warned! this hotel is crap, the security dept are losers and the super for the grave shift shouldn't be allowed to work in a hotel anywhere in vegas.

Visit in 5/04/05 stayed at the mirage but decided to give IP some extra play time this trip in black jack at $5.00 a hand to see what kind of comps added up. day 1, five hours straight at $5.00 or perhaps a bit higher got me a breakfast buffet. Day 2 the same. Day three, about 2 1/2 hours at a higher amount wagered per hand and added in about 2 1/2 hours play on 25 cent video poker machine. I had dinner at the steak house on the 5th floor about $60.00 on the house and it was good. At the mirage the $5.00 BJ play would have resulted in not even being rated.

visit on 12/1/04 I haven’t stayed at the IP since about 1986 but stop in at least once a year to play a little black jack at the $5.00 table for old time sake or see the legends in Concert show. I heard the place was sold and the new owners were working on improvements. A dealer told me the owner died and the wife and daughter were fixing it up. Believe what you want. I have to tell you, the casino decor has been fixed up nicely ( the blue is gone). Slots machines have been up dated. I noticed the VP, jacks or better machines didn’t have the best pay scale. This I didn’t understand, the pay scale was better if you played nickels and worse for dollars. The dealer impersonators showed up, they looked good and even sang a tune every now and then, nice touch.
I played in the champagne pit. The BJ table felt was clean, no burn holes or ashes ground into it and the layout was colorful, in a word, nice. Pit boss was friendly, poured a little champagne sighed us up for a slot card and compd the 2 of us to a buffet for lunch. The buffet area hasn’t been redone yet, the lunch choices were slim compared to the Aladdin where I have stayed the last couple of years but the price is better on the pocket book. The other restaurants up stairs still looked ok and had a fair price for a meal unlike the eye gouging mega resorts. I forgot to check out the coffee shop ( tea house) up the escalator. Moving on, it has a small business center. The work out, exercise area has improved since I was there last ( back when it only had 2 tread mills). I didn’t see a locker room if there was one (is there a hot tub, steam, sauna, showers, lockers?). The sports book still looks the same. Didn’t see the pools but I doubt they have changed it. I took a stroll all the way to the back of the hotel down the main hall. From front to back, I thought it was clean and the staff was smiling. It’s a smaller hotel and casino which is good, a friend or spouse will be able to find you, no getting lost or running out of steam walking to your room. IP is in what I think to be one of the best locations on the strip for the budget minded.

I stayed 5/5-5/7,2005
I was in room 1307.. It was a king size bed with a nice pool view, my only complaints, no room safe and the pillows at the IP are all small and pretty flat.

Rating out of 5...
Burger Palace gets a 2.5 (Staff rude,Hot dog and burger were luke-warm, fries cold)
Pizza Palace gets a 4(good subs, salad bar & pasta dishes, Staff great).
Casino Slots get a 3 ( tight )
Dealertainers get a 4 (very helpful as I am new to live casino BJ)
Let it Ride gets a 4 (good dealers though, UP about $ 150 after an hour.
Comp $ system on palyers card is great, pay for your room, bar, dinner very easy. and for gift shops.

Been there 4 time in 3 years, nice place to just crash and play craps & bj.....

Just back from the IP. It's an older hotel that is undergoing renovations. At check in the line was very long and seemed there was not enough front desk personel. There was a sign that said you could inquire about a newly remodeled room for an additional charge. We decided to skip that as we were going for a bargain rate anyway. Maybe we should have taken them up on their offer.

The elevators are slow and very small. It's usually a fight to get in one and once you do, be prepared to be packed in like sardines. We stayed in a non-smoking room on the 10th floor with one king bed. The mattress was rock hard. The bathroom floor looked either dirty or like they had re-grouted the tile and not bothered to wash off the residue. The sink looked like it had been painted at one time but the paint was chipping off. Room included TV with remote and iron and ironing board.

One morning we decided to try the buffet. Called front desk and the employee indicated it was on the 3rd floor. Well we hope the elevator to the 3rd floor only to find out you couldn't get to the resteraunts from the bank of elevators we were on. After waiting forever for an elevator we took the stairs to the lobby where we made a right at the roulette wheels and up the escalators to the resteraunt. It was approx. $17.00 for all you can eat for TWO people (not bad). Decent selection of breakfast fare including scrambled eggs, bacon, french toast ect. It was completely serve your self including your drink. Not bad.

The casino was small in comparison to most others on the strip. Only played slots and they were really tight! Didn't pay-out for nothing! Did much better down at MGM-Grand. They did have "dealer-tainers" there which seemed entertaining to the folks playing black-jack. They had one that looked like rod stewart, also blues brothers, and a few others I can't recall.

The good thing about the hotel is the location. It's directly across from Caesars Palace in the middle of the strip. Also it is on the monorail line that runs up to the Sahara and down to MGM Grand. $3.00 a ride or you can buy a day pass for $10.00. Much cheaper than a taxi cab if you plan on spending time on that side of the strip.

In some cases you get what you pay for. This is one of those cases. An older hotel for not much money per night. No frills, no fancy decorations, and marginal rooms. But we knew that going in. We figured we would spend our money on shows and entertainment (including gambling) rather than on a room we werent going to be in that much anyway. If you are looking for fancy this is not the place. If you wat a cheap place to lay your head (on a hard mattress)on the strip near most everything, this may be the place for you.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We checked in quickly, friendly staff, balcony and very low prices. I go to vegas often sometimes I feel like splurging on a room other times I don't. I think this is a great hotel especially for the price. love the mid-strip location I will gladly stay again.

the only thing that sucks is they replaced tequila joes with a less enjoyable club

Stayed at the IP for 4 nights from April 18 to the night of the 21st. There was myself and four friends from work. Booked the two rooms through Bob Cohen, the executive host. He gave us 2 deluxe rooms for 65 a night. Then three days before we left, I got a Spring Special in the mail for the same rate but with $25 in free comp, 2 for 1 Legends tickets, 4 match plays for Blacjack, 4 free drinks etc. So that made it even better deal! Our party arrived at about 1:30 and checked right into our rooms on the tenth floor, 1064 and 1062. The rooms were nice, they appeared to be clean. The only problem was after dark, the lamp by our beds did not work. We didn't bother complaining, since we were not in the room much anyhow!
Overall our stay was great. The monorail is awesome, so much easier than the bus system that takes forever. The elevators by the bar are great, they don't stop at every floor. I was always able to zip up to the room in less than five minutes. Meals were pretty good too. Went to the Burger Palace for the first time, it was excellent. The double burger was too much for me, didn't think they would be that big! The Emporer's Buffett was free thank goodness, I didn't even eat two dollars worth. Had breakfast every day at the Teahouse and it was good everytime. We didn't check out until 6 pm on the 21st since we had a red eye flight, and the host there took care of us quickly and easily. All five of us are looking forward to going back next year!

After sepnding 3 nights at the Monte Carlo we moved to the IP for the cheaper room rate. What a come down. Asked for a King non smoking and got a double smoking. Believe me the smoking rooms S-T-A-N-K! The casino was ok with low limits, and the dealertainers. Good luck getting down the elevators within 30 minutes, and dont even bother asking the staff for anything.
They did however not lack prostitutes at the bar. Got propositoned several times in 2 days. The beds felt just like the ones that Fred and Wilma Flintsone used.
The only real positive was the Embers Steak House. Very good service, a great steak, and even better desert. Overall, the IP just does not try, and obviously does not care.

This hotel has my vote for the next to be imploded! We arrived on Monday, March 21st at about 12 noon and were told to come back at 3 p.m. to get into our room; not what we wanted to hear after a long airplane ride. Paid $20 per night for an upgraded room, strip view, room #1878 on 18th floor. The remodeled rooms are terribly drab and our room with a king bed was missing its desk/dresser. I awoke early on Tuesday morning and heard the toilet running and water was shooting up from the toilet. I flushed it and the toilet calmed down a bit so I was able to shower. Also on Tuesday morning, there was a message on my phone to come down to the desk to pay for the upgrade which I had already paid for and I took my receipt down to the desk and showed it to the clerk who assured me that it would be posted correctly and I told her about the toilet problems and instead of saying "Yes mam, will see to it right away" she told me to go back upstairs and call Housekeeping (Not the right customer service answer). When we returned to the room on Tuesday evening, the toilet had not been fixed and there was a very strong sewer smell emanating from the toilet. I called the Front Desk and asked for the Guest Services Manager and requested to be moved to another room and first he started hemming and hawing about how they were sold out and I told him I had been a customer there for 10 years and asked him whether or not he could get us moved under the circumstances of the toilet situation/sewer smell. He continued to hem/haw and I continued to press the issue and he said he would call me back and 5 minutes later a bellman called and moved us. The guest services manager didn't even have the decency to apologize to me, the guest, and to call back and follow up that everything was all right. And on top of that, the guest services manager told me I hadn't paid the extra $20 per night for the upgraded room and I said "Listen Buddy, I got the receipt right here in my purse and I went to the front desk about this already this morning and you better adjust your records and quit bothering me about it"?.

The elevators were terribly slow, too, nothing new to report there, same problems. The whole property looked terribly, terribly run down and in need to a good cleaning and some serious redecorating.

The rooms are vintage 80's. The lamp shades were falling off and the beds were very lumpy. The elevators were slow and the casino was smoky. Worst of all, the jerks who sell the time shares flat out lied about the length of time it took for their tour. We were at 5 hours and some others were over 6 hours. Do NOT do this time share - it's also a bad deal. This is the fault of the property management. The hotel needs updating big time but it is centrally located on the strip and the price is good. I would stay there again but my wife won't. Guess who wins that one!

Coming from a travel agent, I loved it! We stayed in a renovated room on the 6th floor the first night. The bedding and curtains had been renovated, but the carpets were stained in countless places, and the bathroom was a little tired, but still spotlessly clean. I would have been happy to stay there, but the next night, we asked to stay in a room with a view, and they provided! True, it gets noisy because of the bar outside, but we were out at that time anyway. Our room on the 17th floor was spotless, carpets were new, bed and coverings as well. One of the most comfortable beds I've been in.
Staff was always friendly and helpfull.
Elevators near the Dealer-tainers were never slow. The slow elevators are located near the shops and Betty's Diner.
Buffet was free when you register for the player's club, so I have no complaints. I probably would not eat there if I had to pay however.

Great overall experience if you're looking to be at the center of the action on the strip. Not for the fussy traveler who expects to pay 75$ a night for a 6 star hotel, but great for anybody else.

I will definatly stay at this classic property again.

Yes- the place is older and the elevators are painfully slow but don't overlook the value and location. Very liberal comps for minimal play meant that rooms and meals were fully covered. Our room was neat and clean with a sliding door that actually opened up. The hallways could have used a little more attention from the maids but I was pleased with the Imperial Palace and will be back again.
