- Good Visit I stayed at this hotel June 12-15. We had room 1640 in the Carnaval tower. The rooms have been remodeled since my last visit several years ago. We arrived between 9 and 10 am and the room was ready, in fact, we were offered a choice of floors. The check-in clerk was very friendly as was most of the personal we encountered. The only exception was the seating host in the buffet on Friday morning. Our group of 9 wanted to sit together and the host tried to put us at two different tables instead of pulling two others together because she previously pinched her finger. We insisted on being seated at one and a gentleman came to help us, he was very nice. Our waitress was wonderful! The Flavors buffet is decent, no big complaints since we had coupons. Didn't use the pool or spa services. Can't beat the location of this place. The rooms do have mini-bars with sensors so don't touch anything if you don't want to pay for it. Even if you put if back you will be automatically charged. Housekeeping was fairly good, a dirty coffee cup wasn't picked up and the drains on the sink and tub were closed in the processes of cleaning so we had to adjust those but it wasn't that big of a deal. This room did have an in room safe that we made use of. The view was not great, it looked east toward Hard Rock Casino, but who goes to Vegas just to look out the window? We weren't in there that long! Gambling was okay, no big wins. We made use of the Deuce and not the monorail, no reason, just didn't do it. Overall had a great time and I would definitely stay at Harrah's again in the future.

- Bad Visit Harrahs Corp has broght half the hotels on the strip. MGM the other half. That is a very bad situation for us, the customers. MGM by far gives out better service and deals though. My suggestion to you, is stay at a different hotel, than one owned by harrahs Corp. i.e. Venetian, and now the Palazzo. They own one hotel and can give their customers the service and comps, harrahs DOES NOT need to give out anymore. Stayed at Harrahs and IP this time by gambling alot at the local harrahs river boat in KC. IP is a dump but we used our KC comps for the rooms. There are 3 other boats in KC but harrahs is the only one in vegas. There were four of us on this trip, we are all Platium and diamond members and we made the effort to gamble were we stayed, Flamingo ,IP, Rio, Paris, Ballys etc. After two days and nights, we asked for a buffet or two at the IP. We had a total of $32 in comps. We gambled nearly 40 hours and lost over $5500 on slots, BJ, VP and craps. This was i believe our 23th trip to vegas in ten years and the taking care for customers has gone south more and more each year. We all handed in our players cards, asked to be taken off their mail list. Walked over to the venetian, used our grazie cards, was given the normal 700 ft suite for $99. We are all the lowest tier players at venetian and still received at great deal. We do go back and forth on trips to the best deals, but Venetian/palazzo in the past, has and will receive all our business (money) in the future. Back in KC, we will gamble at the Argosy, Ameristar, and Isle of Capri river boats now. As one Harrahs dealer told us, What are you gonna do, Go across the street? We own that one too! I know $5000 to $8000 we gamble twice a year between all of us guys, isn't gonna make or break Harrahs Corp. But, we do show up every year and just wanted some luke warm, stale food for the loyalty. . ? :). oh and we all just received three nights at the Palazzo with $50 slot cash offer after we got home in the mail. See you in March, Palazzo, for the NCAA touney. We're back for good!

- Undecided This was my husband's and my 2nd visit. Also stayed 4/07. We were at Harrah's 4/3-4/7/08. Quick, friendly service. Warned this time by hotel staff to not open the fridge move any items otherwise you will be charged. We weren't warned last year and had unexpected charges, which we disputed. Used the safe in the room to store valuables, you assign your own code.
Rooms were clean; however, I had splashed coffee on floor which dried, but housekeeping apparently does not mop floors on a daily basis. One bathroom light was out, which took a few days for them to replace.
Long wait for cafe unless you were a platinum/gold? member. On Sunday, we thought we were getting a breakfast buffet, but it was a champaign breakfast, which we did not know. This was at 10:15-10:30 a.m. Others were disappointed too. Grew a little tired of the buffet and waiting at the cafe. Used Starbucks every day. One also on second floor. Went to Toby's Restaurant--not really too impressed with the sandwiches.
Guys will like this--Not much for shopping. One store did not take the rewards card. Since there is limited time on the cards, husband and I tried to spend down our points at the other little store which accepted cards (sorry, can't remember stores names). I did more shopping at other casinos.
We thought the Harrah's Casino had a wide variety of machinies to choose from. However, we also spent time at a few other local casinos.
We saw Rita Rudner and the Hats musical comedy. Really enjoyed both of them, except for the pricey beverages.
Fire alarm went off on Sat or Sunday. I think it was just our floor, didn't hear the reason why.
Spa - had a 50 minute massage first day there. Used the 15% discount card. Could use the spa for however long you liked. Costed me $120 including tip. A little pricey for what I'm used to paying, but this was our vacation.
Security was high one night (code orange), why, I don't know. Nice to see security guard looking for hotel cards.
Took the Deuce to downtown area. Expect to spend 25-40 minutes, depending on time of day, traffic. But nice to have. $5/one way, ride 24 hours. Driver announces the stops and scenic surroundings.
Would stay again, however, husband and I will also be trying other hotels in the near future for comparison.

- Good Visit September 12-17, 2007
My stay at Harrah's was a very Good Girlfriend Trip. This was not my first stay, however it had been 3 years since my last stay. I found the rooms in the Mardi Gras Tower to be updated and very comfortable. The positives were: Rooms always cleaned very adequately, Check-in process very pleasant and efficient, all staff encountered from the Bell Captain, Front Desk, Restaurant, Boutiques, Rewards Station, Oyster Bar (my favorite-DELICIOUS), casino floor waitresses, housekeeping staff, Spa staff, (especially Louise, outside entertainment were FANTASTIC. My only complaint was the pool area which is in much need of updating, however since the Flamingo Las Vegas is in the same group with Harrah's we ended up going to their pool area which was GREAT once we found lounge chairs. The snacks at the pool were delicious. Needless to say we all were quite pleased with our five nights at Harrah's. If all services remain the same, I WILL BE BACK.

- Good Visit Stayed the week of 7/4. Came in late Sun. nite and checked in quickly. Elevators were close to checkin. Room was somewhat small, but clean. NOTE:Housekeeping was VERY quick. Would leave in the morning to workout about 7 and got back at 9 and room was cleaned..amazing. Positives: Good buffet, ease of checkin, game selection, entertainment, monorail access and LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION!!!! I also won at video poker quite a bit. Negatives:spa/fitness room are fair, pool is small (but alot of sundecks available) Lack of late-night food options, though there is a 24hr McDonalds next door. I was comped for the week, but there prices are still very reasonable. I can't stress enough the biggest asset for Harrahs is a great location!!!!! Will stay again, but probably in the winter time as I wouldn't have a need for the pool.

- Good Visit Arived at Harrah's on May 13th and departed on the 16th. Always go there due their Reward's program. Service received from all aspects were very good. Ranging from housekeeping, slot attendents, slot mechanics, waitresses, checkin/checkout, all with no complaints. Dueling Piano bar was fun as usual. Shuttle service to the rear of the property very handy. Security was good and handled a situation that I witnessed very well. Housekeepng very proficient. Didn't win much at the slots but had fun anyway. Will return to Harrah's on my next visit to Las Vegas.

- Good Visit Our first Vegas visit in 17 years. we normally head to Harrahs Lake Tahoe, but we were compted 3 days after christmas. while the hotel and casino isn't up to par with the more glamourous hotels like the Venetian or MGM Grand, its location, friendly staff and value more than make up for its lack of sophisticaiton. the room was small, but it had a comfortable bed, and the in-room safe was a added bonus. Flavors buffet was great, a better value than the buffet in Lake Tahoe. The Range Steakhouse is a gem, a private elevator lifts you from the casino to the second floor. It has an outstanding view of Caesars Palace, the Mirage and Treasure Island. The food was delicious and moderatly priced, presented elegantly by a friendly and pleasant staff.
Being centrally located on the Strip, Harrahs is a great launching point for excursions to the various properties on or off the Strip. One can purchase a Monorail ticket and ride quickly and effortlessly northward to the Convention Center or the Hilton, or south winding up at the MGM Grand, or making stops at any of the hotels on the rails system. Or if you'd prefer to walk, even the physically challenged can make quick jaunts to other nearby hotels. Be careful to mind the traffic lights, Las Vegas cabbies are not forgiving to jaywalkers.
The table games weren't overly high priced. There were mainly $10-$15 table games of all sorts. This was during the midweek, and even in the morning there were no $5 tables, but that's Vegas. Most of the dealers we encountered were kind, attentive, and helpful.
All economic levels of society were present during our visit, from the jeff foxworthy rednecks to those wearing suits and diamonds.
Overall, we had a good time, and if the same situation presents itself again, we will return to Harrahs Las Vegas.

- Good Visit We thoroughly enjoyed Harrah's. For an affordable Vegas hotel and casino, I think it's one of the better ones around. Our room was nicely furnished and well serviced and all of the employees were very courteous. We had pretty good luck at the casino (a little better than break even) and we found lots of great eating options (we tried the Range steakhouse, the buffet, and the cafe and liked all of them). Finally, we saw a show we both really enjoyed (Bareback - a really fun adult oriented mix of good dancing and singing, beautiful women, good looking guys, comedy and audience participation with a genuinely friendly cast).

- Good Visit We have been guests with Harrah's since 1990. During the changes and price increases, the staff has remainded excellent. The frontline employees keep the returning customers satisfied. We have excellent relationships with the bartenders, as we are video poker players. The VIP servers at Flavors Buffet are awesome, always making us feel welcome. Rooms have been very nice, especially in the Carnival Tower. Rewards for Platinum level are fair. Wonder what is coming as Harrah's expands to a Mega Resort. The size of the casino is just right at this time. The location is awesome. We have friends that stay at TI, so we are able to meet half way at Mirage or Harrah's.

- Good Visit Upon arrival to the hotel after a long flight and two hours later than expected my daughter and I were upgraded to a suite because we had to wait a little at check in. Surprisingly the suite was lovely. I was sorry it was just for one night. We had reservations at the Venetian for the remainder of our trip. We were every bit as happy with the suite we had at Harrah's as we were with the one at the Venetian. The casino at Harrah's is a lot of fun, and there is always a lot going on in there. The atmosphere is always upbeat in Harrah's and it is brighter than some casino's so it's a place to spend a little more time than in others. We enjoyed the breakfast in the restaurant on the main floor, it was great and so was the service. This was my first stay at Harrah's but I am going back next month for 5 more days and looking forward to it...

- Good Visit My husband and I chose to stay at this property because we are a memeber of the Total Rewards Program and have not stay here yet. The view from our room was not very good, but for what we got it for we didnt complain at all!! The Harrahs staff is great. The Cafe at Harrahs was decent for the price as was the Flavors Buffet. The casino is a decent size also. Rita Rudner was a great show and if you are a partier, be sure to visit the Harrahs Carnival Court. Those are some of the best Bartenders I have ever seen, great drinks too. We visit there everytime we go to Vegas!!

- Good Visit Got back from Harrah's last night. Stayed from June 25-28. Room was comped through their Reards program. Also got $ 50.00 credit to the new Italian restaurant " Penazzi's. Nice dining and the food was good complete with live music. Room was nice, Carnival tower side. Housekeeping good as they do not disturb if you want privacy. They will just leave a message on your phone to let them know if you need anything. Dueling Pianos and Carnival court a must see. A bartender competition was in the works, as I always watch them when I am there. Staff was courteous and professional, especially the check in person who helped with a problem. To the rear are the shuttle pick up and drop off area plus the monorail. Slots were tight but had a good time anyway. When I return to Vegas, I will be choosing Harrah's again for sure.

- Good Visit My wife and I stayed at Harrahs for 5 nights in June and loved it. Can't beat the location on the strip and had a great time at the Carnival Court and piano bar. Played slots most of the time and didn't win much (was not expecting to) but had no problem getting a drink, cocktail waitress came by every 10-15 minutes. The Range had great food and service. The room was nothing to brag about but who goes to Vegas and stays in the room. Will stay at Harrahs on our next trip.

- Good Visit I stayed here for the first time in May. The rooms are small and there is no safe. The pool is terrible. The casino is nice with a great poker room and sports book but the minimums are high for a place of this quality. The restaurants are pretty good. Getting in and out of the hotel, driving, is not that hard. I would return but prefer the Flamingo.

- Good Visit Very nice room in the Carnival Tower. Quality room, much like you would get at a Hyatt Hotel. Very clean and very well appointed room. Excellent maid service. Don't like having to walk through the casino any time I want to leave the hotel, but that's what they do in Vegas. The pool sucks - small and has few lounge chairs around. It's a disgrace that a hotel this large would have such a small rectangle pool. But that's my only complaint. Also, Toby Keith's bar and grill has excellent sandwiches at a reasonable price. And we LOVED Flavor's Buffet.

Ate 3 breakfast buffets there, excellent. Spent time in the evening at Diamond Lounge, drinks, snacks, etc. all very good. The Diamond Lounge could've had more lighting, appearing smokey. Very satisfied & will definitely stay there again. Liked all the shuttles they have, didn't rent a car this trip. All personnel we encountered were very friendly, always a smile for you.

- Good Visit Stayed for free 3/19 & 3/20. Nice room in Carnaval Tower. Our stay was incident free. No murders or anything while we were there. :-) Casino has removed many of the slot machines we enjoy!!!! Where are they???? (No Addams Family, Elvira, Young Frankenstein, Tinseltown, Raining Diamonds, etc.)
Total Rewards has gotten BADDDDD!!!!! We stayed in town 11 days, and played at all Harrahs properties, yet they say we earned 0 cash back, and $12.00!! ???
I am a Platinum card holder, but I receive no offers for Harrahs Las Vegas in the mail. Just New Orleans. We used to get generous offers from Caesars Entertainment via our Connection Card. The CC kiosk was very convenient for printing cash & comp vouchers. It is truely sad that Harrahs has taken them over. Very bad for those of us who frequent Las Vegas. With eliminating the compettion, we will no longer receive generous offers in the mail for rooms, or decent comps when visiting. MGM Mirage currently offers best comp value.
Slots were loose occasionally, and room was nice. Service overall very good.
We'll be back, but not as often.

- Good Visit My wife and I are regular visitors to Las Vegas. Wanting a change we decided to stay at Harrahs instead of the Rio. While Harrahs rooms are not as big as the Rio's the rooms are very clean and the casino has about everything someone could want. The staff was very rude at the 24 hr cafe, other than that they were great. Range Steakhouse is a great place to eat. The only major complaint I have with the casino is that even if there was 6 people at a table game and 4 people ready to join they would close the games for some stupid reason. But they would leave 7 or 8 Blackjack table open with no one playing at them. Comps are great at Harrahs. We are diamond members and get free offers in the mail everyday.

- Good Visit Stayed 11/5 to 11/10, Sat. through Thursday. Sat night was like a zoo. Could not get on a BJ table all night. As for the room, Sat. were promised a King bed but non available till Sunday. Sat. night was the problem I guess. Room had someones food basket in it so we got a new room Sunday & was much better. About 3 hrs. after we switched we remembered we left our coats in the other room, one was a rare NASCAR Champion jacket. Went to get help at the desk & was directed to GM Desk. Never thought we would see our jackets again but within 2 hrs. they were delivered to our door. Ate 2 times at the breakfast buffet, not bad but not great either. I guess the word is filling. Casino is lots of fun but machines never paid out for us and the 4 other couples we were with but we all had a great time. Will return again next year.

- Bad Visit My husband and I stayed at Harrah's because it was prebooked by another person. When we got to the hotel it was easy to check in, no lines but this was on a Tuesday evening, not sure about weekends. There were some people there constantly bugging us about a time share and wanted us to take some kind of survey and offered hundred dollars if we did so. We decided we should have taken them up on it instead of spending that time on the slot machines. I would not play the slots, not much anyway in this casino again. I watched other people and didn't see any winners over a hundred dollars and they were playing the quarter and dollar slots. My husband and I spent around $1000 here and lost every bit of it and the biggest win was $125, my biggest win was $10. We went down town and did much better. The comp card we got was worthless and after spending this much money there added up to a total of $7 off a meal.
The majority of the employees there are friendly but nothing special and the cafe staff was awful, rude and very slow. I would not recommend eating in the Harrah's cafe to anyone, way over priced and the slowest I've ever seen. I have never paid $3.75 for a glass of tea or $3 bucks for a cup of coffee any where else. We always had to wait forever for a table even though there were empty tables all over the restaurant. I recommend going down town to the Four Queens and having the Prime Rib dinner for $7.99, it was great and the service unbelievable.
When we got to the room I thought it was ok, small and it was a smokers room and you could sure tell it. Although it was a smokers room there were no matches anywhere. I asked several times for matches only to be given a used book by one of the maids. This wouldn't be a big deal for anyone else but I do collect match books and came home with one used one, was not happy. Also, they do not supply hair conditioner and you will get only the necessities, soap, shampoo and hair net. There was no coffee pot and my husband had to hunt forever for a cup of coffee in the mornings. I didn't care much about the prostitute that hit him up while he was hunting for coffee early in the mornings either but I suppose they are in every hotel.
The guest next to us left his alarm clock on and every night it would go off forever before I finally called the front desk, each time and had them come up and turn it off. The security guards were the kindess employees, those and the cocktail waitresses. I felt like this hotel cared more for the high rollers and simple people like my husband and I were made to feel second class, which I suppose we are but we are the people who are keeping these places up and running. Even though we don't spend as much as some of the others I feel we should have been treated with the same respect, which we were not.
My friend and her husband stayed at Treasure Island. This is where we were supposed to be staying but a change of plans made us late in trying to book and we couldnt get a room. We visted their hotel and I have to say it was so much nicer than Harrah's. They had excellent service and were treated very special. The rooms were super nice, roomy, great view, clean and even though it was a smoking room it smelled great. The furnishings were so much more up to date and the maid service was great.
I suppose for the money it isn't a bad hotel and it is in a great location but we will not be staying there again.

- Good Visit Just got back yesterday morning from a week's trip to Vegas to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We stayed at Harrah's as I liked it 5 years ago and we own with Fairfield (timeshare) and this is one of their choices for us in Vegas.
Check-in was a breeze; however, we checked in late, so I don't know how busy it might get at other times. Only downside was because we checked in so late, the only room available was a sucky corner room in the Mardi Gras Tower. I had asked for an upgrade at time of check-in (hoping for an upgrade to a suite, ha) but nothing was available. They did move us to Carnaval Tower early the next day, and that was a much nicer room. Large enough to spread out in and we were very happy with it. Hint: If they are going to book you into Room 1570 in Mardi Gras, you know you are on the sh** list or checking in late :) I had to laugh because when I checked my messages the next day and they told us they were moving us, that person and even the gal at the info desk when we went down to get the new room keys both said "I don't even know why they still rent that room out; it's the worst one in the hotel!" But it worked out okay for us after we moved. Hubby does take medication, so I told a little white lie and said we needed a fridge for it and we got that in room for free. Nice for water and drinks in between all our adventures.
We took in a couple shows: Skintight - whoa - got an eyeful there!!; Legends in Concert at Imperial Palace - very good show; Mac King - funny as hell; and did the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam tour - BREATHTAKING.
Ate at The Range steakhouse our first night. (We were too tired to explore the Strip.) Food was EXCELLENT, although a little pricey, but we had 4 drinks and dinner for about $100. I guess for a "high class" joint that wasn't bad, though. Ate at the Cafe twice. Not very impressed with it for the price. I ordered creme brulee for dessert at one meal and it was awful. Got a little attitude from the server when I asked to have it taken off the bill, but she did take it off. (Hey sorry, I'm not paying $5.99 for a dessert I can't finish due to poor quality!) The buffet was very average. We didn't really like much of what they had to offer for the price.
Now, if you want a REALLY good buffet, shuttle over to their sister property, the Rio - NOT the seafood buffet, the Carnival World buffet. The regular price is $22.99/person for dinner. We got a $5 coupon when we checked in to Harrah's which was nice. Well, let me tell you, we loved that Rio buffet so much, we ate there a total of 3 times! I wangled another coupon from the check-in desk by fibbing a little - told them I lost our coupon sheet when we changed rooms. Then on our last day there, although they wouldn't give my husband another set of coupons, I slid on over to the info desk and the woman there took pity on me - she said she couldn't give me another coupon sheet, but she went in back and must have cut a coupon out of a magazine because she gave me a different coupon, but still $5 off. (Actually though, that buffet was so good, I'd have paid full price.) They had a little bit of everything and that was great for us, because I am a more "adventurous" diner and hubby is "meat and potatoes". They had everything from sushi to hot dogs at the various stations, and the desserts were just incredible. I definitely recommend this buffet, especially if you have people in your group that all like different types of food.
As far as gambling, we are not "high rollers" by any means, but we had fun at Harrah's. I can't comprehend anything more difficult than slots or poker machines and they have plenty, from penny slots to $5 and poker from a quarter on up (there may have been some nickel poker machines, but I can't remember). Hubby stuck mostly to the poker machines, but did hit for $35 on a nickel machine - we got a chuckle out of that because it was called "Rich Girl" and was pretty hokey. But he just happened to hit a "max bet" for the hell of it and wouldn't you know it, he hit it lucky. We joked about that all trip "There's your Rich Girl" every time we saw one. I did catch him on it a couple more times, but he didn't hit again. Kept teasing him about cheating on me with "her", LOL. All in all, we just broke even, so I guess that's better than actually losing :) I was down $60 the last day, but then hit for $60 on a penny slot machine, so that was a nice end to the trip.
In case there are any other dumb bunnies like me out there, make sure you check to see what comps you might have before you leave. We didn't think we had gambled much, but I guess those pennies, nickels and quarters add up - since we probably won't be back for a while, we comped out and used our big $6 to buy two Starbucks before we headed to the airport. LOL. I didn't realize you could use them up like that - thought you had to have big bucks played in to get dinner or something, but at Harrah's you can use them in the shops or at Starbucks, etc. just by showing your Total Rewards card and your ID. (OK all you Vegas regulars out there, quit laughing at me now!)
Anyway, totally enjoyable trip and I would definitely stay at Harrah's again. Only thing I didn't like was they wouldn't give us a late check-out because they must have been overbooked. We got a little reprieve til 1 p.m. but I was hoping for 6 p.m. as we had the red-eye out; but it wasn't bad, we stayed in the room til 12:45 then strolled up to Bellagio to look at the fountain, gambled a bit more at Harrah's then shuttled over to Rio for the buffet so we were able to kill some time without too much walking around aimlessly.

Casino visit only. Always have a good time in here, whether I win or not (this time I did!) The last night of my trip, I was playing with the house's money the whole time. Drink ladies and slot attendants were very good. A ticket got stuck in a machine, and the guy was over to help me out in about 10 seconds. Very crowded in here, but a fun place to play.

- Bad Visit Stayed for a free night and a Lenox Picture frame. Of course they ran out of picture frames. No suites were available so we were unable to upgrade. But were given a newly remodled room. The sink dripped and no water pressure in the shower. Only 1 soap and 1 shampoo. Got more of that from housekeeping. The carpet had stains on it. Ok then the service. What happened? Received attitude from all staff except housekeeping. Buffet use to be so good. Food was cold and tastless. Had stayed at Harrahs several times durning the year, but no more. Hope you have better luck!

Enjoyed playing in Harrah's while in Vegas 7/2-7/10/05. Walked through the casino daily as its better than walking in the heat. Enjoyed the Piano Bar very much. Wife and I joined the slot club ( We tend to stick to Caesar's properties and suppose we had better get used to Harrah's as they just bought out Caesars) and were impressed with how nice everyone was to us. Slots were fun and well maintained. Poor VP. Employees were friendly and helpful. The casino itself was a bit hard to navigate but was clean and not too smoky. The only negative was a lady shill who bugged us every time we went through the north main door trying to sell us something. We never gave her time to find out what the hell she was pushing. Not a bad place to spend some time in the mid strip area.

Had Jacuzzi and separate shower which was nice. Room was decorated beautifully, mostly in gold and dark woods. Nice wet bar area w/coffee pot and dining area with 4 chairs by floor to ceiling window. View of east side of Vegas. Much nicer than a regular room but the regular rooms are okay. Good food at the buffet. The cafe was closed for remodeling but their breakfasts are always good eventhough the service can be slow.

- Good Visit This was our 2nd stay at Harrahs. The easy access from the parking garage to the hotel and casino as well as from the street behind the hotel makes getting in and out easy. With the new monorail stopping here it makes it easy to get up and down the strip. Our first visit was for our honeymoon and our room was upgraded to a suite which was roomy and clean. Since we got two nights free and the rest of the nights were at quite a discount, we decided to stay again for our first anniversary. We arrived early and no rooms were ready in the Carnival tower so opted for a King size bed in the other tower. The room was small, but clean. What we really liked was the little balcony which is rare in Las Vegas. It gave us a view of TI, Venetian and the mountains. This was great because we decided not to venture out after 10 on New Years Eve. We were able to view the fireworks from our balcony, hear the sounds and get some outstanding pictures. The negative was the casino was not paying off. Blackjack dealer would win on a bust card everytime and table limits were high due to the time of year. Not even 10 dollar tables could be found or if found very few and no seats. Slots were tight as was no luck on video poker. Next trip we are going to stay somewhere else to try out new hotels and casinos. The location is great, the rooms are okay, the dealers friendly but casino don't measure up to some of the other places on the strip anymore.

- Good Visit Had a free room Tues/Wed of Thanksgiving week, easy to get with players card once you get on their list. Again in Carnival Tower (newest and nicest and very close to parking lot) was clean, quiet and everything worked. Quick checkin at 2pm and asked for a view(no tip offered) , got a 25th room floor and could see Mirage volacano. Asked for fridge ( and was sent to room in 5 minutes-free as said I needed it for medication-hint hint)
All staff encountered very nice, good drink service in the casino, slots tight as they are in all the big casinos, but made Platinum level on players card as had 300 base points coupon offer mailed to me . Great strip location, buffet sucked as usual! On check out morning could not lose on the machines, won on 5 out 6 played and least got a few hundred bucks back in 20 minutes!

- Good Visit Came into town to watch pro and college football (at The Mirage). Stahed at Harrah's because of the great promo in the mail (avg $40 per night). Enough has been said of the great location as this (along with the rates) were prime reasons for staying here.
Were in the Mardi Gras' tower (enterance near Keno area). Basic room somewhat over-looking the carnival court band area. Room was about what you would expect from an older hotel as Harrah's is. Casino was alright. Did hit some descent jackpots on video poker but slots were bad. Primarily played craps and you could find a $5 table very late or very ealry in the day (like most places I guess). Did not eat there at all (unless you count the pretzel vendor outside by the carnival court area!). Plus, I have had their buffet in the past, very basic. Older crowd hangs here although their piano bar is trying to get a bit younger group (I in my low 40's). Is that old or young?
For the value and location I would give Harrah's a thumbs up.

- Good Visit Harrah's has one of the best comp programs and we have stayed free at many of their locations nationwide. This was our first stay at the Vegas location as we usually stay at another hotel but Harrah's was comped for the 1st 2 nights and $29 for the remaining 2 nights. We had a corner "Junior Suite" in the Carnival Tower (upgraded at no cost). Very spacious and all the amenities. Cookies for a late night snack brought to your room. Coffee-makers. Hubby won a royal flush on video poker so we left ahead cash-wise. Pool was crowded and not for me as chairs were so close together made me claustrophobic. Make sure you ask for the Carnival Tower as I have heard the other is not nearly as nice.

- Good Visit We stayed at the Harrah's in 2002- Mardi Gras Tower, which leaves a lot to be desired, however, this year, we spent 5 nights in the Carnival Tower, which is by all measures THE BEST TOWER to stay in.
The rooms were pleasantly decorated, nice size for two people, and almost all features were in top working condition. The toilet in the room we had for the first 3 days had to be flushed 3-4 times before being successful, however, upon our return from California we were assigned a different room (still in the Carnival Tower) and the toilet operated much better.
The staff at Harrah's was pleasant, helpful, and knew their job, and that says a lot about employees & EMPLOYERS work ethic of today.
I encourage you to ask for the Carnival Tower if you plan to stay at Harrah's. You may not get the best view, but you will get the better room.
The Spa area is modern, up to date facility, and maintained very well, especially considering this is an older facility.
Check in on both dates Aug. 1 and Aug. 7 exceeded my expectation. We did not experience more than a 2-minute wait each time.
Both the bell & Valet services were efficient. Again we did not experience a wait, even during prime times for both services.
TRY HARRAH'S - YOU JUST MIGHT LIKE IT, and the location, if you want center strip is UNBEATABLE.

We have stayed at Harrah's four times. Last year (Aug 03) was during our honeymoon (we are no spring chickens)and we received an offer for four free nights and decided to spend our 1st Anniversary there. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a mini-suite. The room had a terrific view of the strip. Room was great, very spacious. Last year we played the slots and did very will - left with over $2200 between us. This year the slots were super tight. Only saw two Jackpots in the four nights there. Talked to many folks who agreed with us that the new machines (ticket-in/ticket-out) were terrible. We like playing the coins - well, no more. Also, we noticed it wasn't as crowded as our last visits. Could be people aren't going for the tight slots. The staff, other than the registration clerks, were not as friendly or helpful. This was disappointing since that is one of the reasons we like to stay there. The comps have been reduced - for all the money we ran through the machines the comps didn't even cover three meals we charged to the room. We played as much this time as last year, but last year we were comped an additional nite, as we decided to stay over. We did have some luck at the Casino Royal though - a neat little funky place next to Harrah's. I believe our next visit to LV will find us at another Hotel. The deminished service and tight machines we'll leave to others.

- Good Visit MY GIRLFRIENDS AND I STAYED AT THIS HOTEL AUG 22-25. TO START THIS IS A NICE HOTEL FOR THE VAULE $59 a night. CHECK-IN TOOK MAYBE 10 MINUTES. THE THING THAT I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT CHECK-IN IS THAT THEY CHARGE A $100 DOLLAR A NIGHT DEPOSIT. I STAYED FOR 3 NIGHTS SO THEY HELD 300 DOLLARS PLUS THE REMAINING COST OF THE ROOM ON MY CREDIT CARD. I DIDNT LIKE THE FACT THAT THEY HOLD 100 DOLLARS A NIGHT ON YOUR CREDIT CARD. BUT BESIDEDS THAT THE ROOM WAS CLEAN. I'M NOT A SMOKER BUT MY GIRLFRIENDS ARE AND IN ORDER TO BE NEXT TO THEM I HAD TO GET A ROOM ON THE SMOKING FLOOR. THE ROOMS SMELL REALLY BAD. I MEAN REALLY BAD. LUCKY I BROUGHT SOME AIR FRESHNER. SO PLEASE BRING SOME AIR FRESHNER IF YOURE STAYING ON A SMOKERS FLOOR. I STAYED IN THE CARNIVAL COURT. THE ROOMS ARE NICE FOR THE MONEY. I THINK THE ROOMS ARE A NICE SIZE. THE CARIVAL COURT IS GREAT FOR ENTERTAINMENT. WE WENT TO THE RIO BUFFET (THE BEST BUFFET IN VEGAS). WE TOOK THE FAIRFIELD TOUR AND RECIEVED THE FREE BUFFET TICKETS TO RIO. IT WAS WORTH IT.
I HAD SO MUCH FUN. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME IN VEGAS. I WILL GO AGIAN. IM NOT SURE IF I WOULD STAY AT THE HARRAH BECAUSE OF THE $100 PER NIGHT FEE AND THE SMELL OF THE HOTEL. IM NOT REALLY A GAMBLER SO I DIDNT PLAY THAT MUCH BUT I DID WIN WHICH MAKES ME WONT TO PLAY MORE.

- Good Visit Stayed here on a Friday night--I guess it was not a busy Friday night for them because they gave me a SUITE at no extra charge. After hitting the top floor button on the elevator, another guy in the elevator told me that he's been "coming to Harrah's for five years regularly, and has NEVER been able to get a room on the top floor." I don't know what I did to warrant the free suite upgrade (maybe it was some sort of fluke), but it put a positive taste in my mouth about this hotel. I liked the outdoor bar atmosphere and the casino is lively. Like other hotels, the layout is a little confusing. The room--no complaints. Great view of the Strip. I like the "staggered" shape of the tower. Hard to believe this was a Holiday Inn once!

- Good Visit Arrived on Sunday morning...Quick check in and assigned a room in the Carnaval Tower. The room was very nice and well appointed. We had a strip view (sort of) and the hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. We did have a slight problem with the air conditioner and after two attempts to fix it, we were upgraded to a suite and they took of a days room charge. The suite was awesome! Two seperate rooms with a great bathroom equiped with a jacuzzi tub and extra large shower. The maid was very good and kept our room very clean.
As far as the casino goes...I won very little playing video poker/slots and lost at three card poker. Beware...they had 6/5 Blackjack that cannot be won.
Like alot of the corporate casinos, they try to suck the blood out of you faster with each visit.

- Bad Visit During our 4 day visit to Harrah's they made it obvious that their main prioriety is their casino, not the hotel. The lobby, casino, public restrooms, etc. are kept in mint condition, but the minute you walk into a room it is nothing special. I would definately not consider this property "Family Friendly." In fact, i was at their pool with my mother this past week and 2 guests (who had been drinking) were throwing a ball back and forth and one of the men tried to catch it and fell over the railing of the patio area and landed in the street between Harrah's and Imperial. It was about a 60 ft drop and when we left he was in ICU. We can only pray for the best, but parents, please watch your children closely. It isnt Harrah's fault the man was drinking and couldnt keep his balance, but the railing he flew over should not be as short as it is. Hopefully something will be done.

Front desk clerk not very friendly. Room ok had a partial view of strip. TV is less than a foot away from bed. Walls paper thin. Sink had a slow drain. They had a coke promotion so won free skintight tickets and buffet for 2 at Rio. Show was pretty good! Dinner buffet @ Rio the best I've ever had. They offered a free shuttle there also. Slots tight! Played over 4 days won nothing. Checked out the pool and it's way too small. Harrah's supposed to be friendly casino but I wasn't very impressed overall with service. Very convenient great rooms with the bigest bathrooms anywhere! Jacizzi tubs, and two basins that were right next to each other.
The Buffet was great and very convenient, they do magic with eggs cooked to order.
The casino was right on the stip so you did't have to walk a long way to get there. Minimumn varied at the tables from 10 to 15 dollars and the dealers were friendly.
Slots were ok but you hav to put a lot of $$ in to get anything out.
Nice convenient trolley to the Rio where the casino has dancers and lots of action.
I had one of the nicest maids I've had in awhile

- Good Visit When I visited Harrah's I found the room spotless and checked in with just a 5 minute wait. All the service people were very pleasant and helpful. The only thing I was disappointed with was the size of the room. I got a king bed in the Mardi Gras Tower and found the room just right for one person but it would have been difficult to move around if there were two. The cabinet with the TV is practically at the foot of the bed. But I loved staying there!

- Good Visit This was our first stay at Harrah's and I honestly don't know why people complain about this place. It was great! We arrived in Vegas 2 hours late, due to a flight delay. We were booked to stay in the Mardi Gras tower. Upon check-in I just asked the clerk if we could have a room in the Carnival Tower instead.
I did NOT use the $20.00 trick. She said we could. Just like that! 5 minutes later we were on our way to the 20th floor. The hallways were wide and immaculate. We did not have to walk far to our room. Once inside, we noticed how clean and fresh it smelled. We had a great view of the mountains and could see the Hard Rock Hotel.
The location was the best! We had fun visiting the surrounding casinos as we did not have the time on our last visit to Vegas. Carnival Court was a blast every night. Great place to people watch! But after a long day of walking and eating and drinking, it was so nice to come back to Harrah's. It felt like home. Each night we had fresh sheets on our beds and never heard a thing, except the usual showers going in the morning, like you would hear at any hotel, anywhere.
We stayed at MGM last year, and while it was nice, I would rather stay at Harrah's again. Also had fun in the casino there. It is huge with lots of slot choices.

Harrah's Las Vegas Casino Hotel

Stayed here in Oct 2003.
Came out with a group for the 2004 Super Bowl - they stayed at Harrah's - I stayed across the street at the Mirage.
The rooms are small, and showing signs of significant wear. The bathrooms are small, and definitely a grade below average Vegas standards. I felt like I was in a Motel 6.
The resturants were average at best. Service at the coffee shop was glacially slow. The food at the Range steakhouse was good, but overpriced for what we got.
The casino has gone to almost exclusively 6:5 BJ or those trash BJ games like "Super Fun 21". You can play double deck BJ, but usually at $25 or $50 minimum bet.
Comps are much harder to get now than they were before Harrah's revised their comp program. I played table games hard for at least 4 hours per day at an average bet of at least $50, and was offered $11 off our food bill!
In contrast, a trip to the Monte Carlo in April 2004 with similar table play netted us full room and meal comps.
If Harrah's was the only hotel/casino, I probably would still go there. But with all the other options in Vegas, I would put Harrah's near or at the bottom of my list.

Harrah's Las Vegas Casino Hotel

- Good Visit I take long weekend vacations in Vegas about 3-4 times a year, and I always stay at Harrah's (although in June I am trying out the Rio). I stay at Harrah's because of 3 reasons: 1) Total Rewards program. I am definately not a whale, but I have been a Diamond member of Harrah's comp system for about 3 years now. I can't imagine it being any easier at another casino to reach the top tier. The perks associated with the comp program seem pretty generous to me. Check-in is really fast at the Diamond desk, and a bellhop is always standing by after check in to handle by bags immediately whether the room is ready or not. There is a special Diamond lounge that has well-dressed wait staff, ANY drink you might want is quickly served, and there is always a little buffet to snack while you watch sports on the big screen TVs. My room and most meals are always comped. I haven't paid for a room since 2000 when I first joined the Total Rewards program and was a Gold member (the lowest, and I still received a significant room discount). When I check in at a table with my Diamond card, the dealer and pit supervisor are always VERY friendly. This takes me to my second reason for staying at Harrah's, 2) the friendly staff. I am always very well treated by all of the staff (with the exception of the Garden Cafe, where the service is terrible). I play craps almost exclusively, and the croupiers are VERY good. They always asses my betting pattern, and then are very good at assisting me with reminders about certain bets and they ask good questions. Once I was even paid for an odds bet that I had forgotten to make because the supervisor told the croupier to pay me anyway because he should have reminded me to make the bet since I had been making it on every shooter for hours. I often have dealers remember my name even when I haven't been to the casino in months (and I am a very quite player). If I'm on the 3rd day of a trip, it's a safe bet that when I walk up to a craps table that every dealer will know my name and betting style regardless of what shift it is. Unlike the experience of some of the reviewers on here, I find the cocktail service to be very good, although it does suffer durijng the hours of 4am-7am. However, if you like a serving of eye candy with your cocktail, Harrah's isn't the place... most waitresses seem to be over 50. My wife was with me for my most recent stay at Harrah's, and the hotel and casino amused me by making me look like a big shot in front of her. At dinner, we always had a great table and the restraunt manager paid special attention to us. Overall, I have to say the service is excellent. My number 3) reason why I like Harrah's is the location. You can't beat it. It is in the absolute heart of the strip. It's a few minutes to walk to the Venetian, Ceasar's, Mirage, Treasure Island, Flamingo, Bally's, Belagio, etc. They also run a free shuttle to the Rio in case you want to get off the strip for a while.
My biggest gripe about Harrah's is that I am 31 years old, and I often seem to be by far the youngest person in the casino... I'm exagerating a little, but my point is that Harrah's is NOT a hot spot for the young crowd. In my opinion, part of the Vegas experience is gawking at the eye candy (my wife approves), and you just don't find much of that at Harrah's. My college roommate is a local, and he's been begging me for years to find another hotel that will comp me because of the lame social scene at Harrah's. The Carnival Court draws a bit of a crowd, but they don't seem to enter the actual casino. To be fair, I have observed the young crowd gradually increasing at Harrah's over the last few years, but a walk through the casino can still make you feel like they are hosting the AARP convention.
When I go back to Vegas next month, I will be staying at the Rio for a change of pace and for the younger crowd (and because they share Harrah's comp system), but if I don't like being off the strip at the Rio and decide I want to be back on the Strip for my next stay, then I will not hesitate to book at Harrah's.
OK, now that I've sung Harrah's praises, I have a MAJOR complaint. Although I play craps most of the time, I like to occassionally take a break by playing Blackjack. Over the last 3 years, the selection of blackjack tables at Harrah's has become TERRIBLE! Three years ago one could always find a $10 table (maybe $15 on a Friday or Saturday night) where the dealer stays on soft 17. Nowadays, although I prefer $25 tables to scare away the lousy players, it's tough to find a table with decent rules. First of all, they no longer offer ANY tables where the dealer stays on soft 17. Worst of all, most of their BJ tables are now 6:5 payouts on Blackjack! If you don't know, you should NEVER play a 6:5 table. I guess I always considered Harrah's a "gambler's casino", but their shift in blackjack policy means they get less of my play. If the dice aren't rolling my way, I walk to another casino to play BJ. If I discover the Rio to be the same way, then I may indeed look outside the Harrah's orginization to start building up a comp rating. If anyone from Harrah's is reading this, show a little respect to your customers by offering them a good blackjack game. Maybe even loosen your rules a bit along the lines of the Las Vegas Club!
I don't play slots much, but I find the Harrah's selection a little disappointing. I would like to see more guaranteed payoff percentages for machines.
By the way, the rooms are only slightly above average, but they have been improving over the last few years as they continue to renovate.
Almost forgot to mention, go see Clint Holmes! He's a fantastic performer and his band is great. Only knock on his show is that the average age of an audience member seemed to be 65 despite the fact that the show is very upbeat.
Overall, I like Harrah's and recommend it to others, especially their generous Total Rewards program.
