- Bad Visit We stayed from June 22-25 during a period of construction. Despite checking in early at 2:00 PM they gave us a room on the first floor right about the restaurant they were remodeling. Every morning at 8:00 AM we would wake up to pounding. My friend complained and got a free room. I don't know why they stuck us there. It took us a few days to figure out it was the construction.
The rooms are kind of small. I didn't think much of their restaurants. Sometimes the price for their rooms are more expensive than their sister property the Orleans. Now I have stayed at the Orleans a few times and it is definetely nicer than the Gold Coast. I initially booked the Gold Coast for their full pay video poker but they pulled all the machines a couple of days before I arrived. We went over the Palms mostly to gamble. They had better machines.
If you want to stay off the strip and save some money stay at a Stations Casino or the Orleans. Stations and the Orleans have better restaurants, buffets and nicer rooms. I stayed at Boulder Station once and they have better rooms and gambling than the Gold Coast and Boulder is supposedly one of the lesser Stations casinos. Don't waste your money here until they remodel. It is only good stay here if you want to be next to the Palms or Rio but don't want to pay the Palms or Rio room rates.

- Undecided I shouldn't complain for the price, but I would rather spend a little more and stay elswhere.Smallest bathrooms I ever seen in my life.Tight casino, the tightest I've seen in my 40 trips to Vegas. My wife & I lost around $500 playing Quarter video poker in about 3 hours.Never cash out once and we are pros at this game.In all fairness the table are good, low minimums and friendly dealers.I should add that most casinos we played seemed tighter than usual that week.Don't know if thats a trend in Vegas but I don't think I'll be back. These big corporate casinos seem to be giving you less and just taking more.My rooms have always been comped, not this time however.

- Good Visit The Gold coast is a great property. My only complaint is the small bathrooms.
Food, service, and casino were great. The rooms are clean. Maid service was wonderful. In room coffee. Prices there are right.
I love the Coast system. Why they sold the Barbary and South are beyond me.
I will be back.

- Good Visit This was our first experience staying at an off strip Casino/Hotel it was great. We had visited this casino on other trips to Las Vegas but this was our first stay here. The check in staff was prompt and friendly. The food at this casino is great and at a good price.
The casino itself is a low roller place. I think there are penny machines than quarter or dollar ones. The machines paid out OK we are not big winners, but we will return to the Gold Coast next year.

- Good Visit We always go to the Gold Coast for the T-Bone Steak special. Still an excellent choice. I believe it's in the Monterrey Room. The decor is very old. The dust on top of the chandeliers was crazy. It looked like scenes from DARK SHADOWS. LOL....but no big deal. The food was very good. They give you a Steak, bread, salad, onion rings, potato wedges, baked beans and a beer to boot. You can't go wrong. I have to say, I have never tried the Chinese Food in the restaurant...but it smells delicious. Mabye next time.

- Good Visit Our second stay at the Gold Coast and once again superb value for the dollar. Great funbooks given to you at check-in and cocktail service in this casino is superb. Room was very clean with now an in-room coffee maker and a flat screen wall mounted tv. We weren't overly impressed with the quality of the tv picture but it sure was nice to have the extra space on top of the dresser. The fitness center is great; use it if you have time. They still have plenty of full pay VP and $5 tables, occasionally a $3 blackjack. Everyone is having fun here it seems.
If you're a smoker you're going to love this place. If you're not, however, be warned that this casino is very smokey. It wasn't as bad last visit but this time it made our eyes water, our clothes smell, and made us think that next time it may be worth spending more to be out of the smoke. If the Gold Coast could just clear the air a little this place would be hard to beat for value. Excellent staff and service all around too. You just can't beat this place for value.

- Good Visit First time staying at the Gold Coast. I normally stay at The Orleans but the rate was better for a Saturday night at the GC. I've been to the casino a couple of times on previous trips but wanted to experience the hotel room. Truly, the size of the rooms don't compare to The Orleans but it is very clean and to me that's the main thing. The bathroom is small but the shower pressure is super! A very large person should consider another hotel. The casino is friendly and certainly has plenty of slots to choose from, the cocktail service is great and so are the restaurants. I enjoyed the band they had on the open stage that night and had fun watching the table games. I would stay there again. I plan to visit Vegas again and again!

My wife and I go to Vegas 2 or 3 times a year. We have stayed on the strip and downtown but this was by far the best stay yet. The room was nice for the price and the food was great! And yes the slots were loooooose, we did very well. All the people that work at the Gold Coast were all very, very friendly. Will stay there again for sure!!!

- Good Visit We stayed at the Gold Coast in June 2006. It was a good value for the money. The rooms were OK, but the bathrooms were a bit small. No major problem with them. The casino was not as good as I had heard. This is a locals casino but, I didn't see anyone hitting it big, including me. I did better on the strip. The food was very good and their show "Forever Plaid" was excellent. Also their shuttle system needs a lot of work. The times were not very consistent. I am a quarter slot player. There were hardly none to be found. They had mostly video poker and penny slots. I would stay here again, but not for the near future.

- Good Visit This was our third visit and as always the staff is friendly, the rooms clean, beds are comfy and the food is decent. Monterey room has a great steak dinner for a reasonable price. The only negative is each time we visit the slot machines seem a bit tighter, sadly we do far better at ANY other casino's in the area.

- Good Visit Stayed here for two days, the room was clean. The buffet was very good, too many choices. Fast service and polite staff. Blackjack dealers are the same from my last visit years ago, Rude... Slots are tight and there were way too many penny video games, that will suck down money better then a Hoover. The best value was eating at the Monterey room. Staff was fast and polite. Food was good.

- Good Visit Stayed for 5 nights at GC while attending a major convention. Prices did not go up during convention. Great value. Good restaurants and buffet. Rooms were always clean. Check in and service was always prompt. Not the action center of Vegas but is walking distance to Rio and Palms to get into the crowds and action. Used the shuttle a lot and enjoyed the stay very much. Will be back soon.

- Good Visit we usually stay at Sam's town but since we needed faster access to the Mandalay Bay for a convention my friend was attending ,we decided on the Gold Coast.biggest requirement was the BiNGO hall. Check in was fast and friendly. we had requested a fridge as my friend is diabetic. by the time we got to the room, housekeeping was right behind with the fridge. The staff was very friendly, rooms were spotless nad any request was promptly filled.
we ate at the Cortez, monterey room and 3 times at the buffet. Not a complaint. Saw their show FOREVER PLAID and it was a blast.
We will be going back next year. Only downside was the LONG walk to the room. Next year will ask for closer to the elevators.

- Good Visit First, I read where someone else complained about this hotel because a cashier wouldn't take his money directly from his hands. Anyone who knows anything about casinos knows this is a standard policy everywhere. Cashiers are trained NOT to have any direct contact with the guests during the exchange of money, just like dealers are trained NOT to take chips directly from guests. It's highly unfair to single out the Gold Coast. Should the cashier have picked up quarter you dropped on the floor, perhaps.
Having said that, I love the Gold Coast. Rooms are always clean, gambling good, shuttle service to center strip is very convenient.

- Good Visit Another good trip to Vegas thanks to the Gold Coast. The one thing I can always count on at the Gold Coast is a clean room. I did good on the slots and the food at the Monterey Room was very good. The only problem we had this time was the Monterey Room closed one night at 9 till 7 the next morning, meaning no graveyard special. Everyone here is very nice, except the check-in desk people, who were actually better than the last time, but still, less than friendly. Don't get me wrong, they're professional, just not very welcoming. The Gold Coast is a great home base when in Vegas. How can you beat the low prices, clean rooms, free shuttle service, good food, friendly people & tons of slots!?
The Gold Coast does need to work on the air system, it can get a little smokey when the casino is full, which it almost always is. Other than that, I really can't think of anything negative. We're going back to Vegas in June and the Gold Coast is where we'll be staying.

- Good Visit 5/15-5/19 This was our first off-strip hotel stay after staying at Luxor and TI our previous two trips. The Gold Coast is an extremely good value. Our room was very clean, always our biggest concern. Our maid did a great job each day; we'd hang out the service requested sign when we left in the morning and always returned to a clean room in the afternoon. Left her a couple dollars on the pillow each morning. The room was your basic non-smoking king. Nothing fancy about it but it didn't look worn out at all and everthing worked as it should. The toilet and tub/shower are in their own small room seperate from the sink, which we like. There's a small window you can open when you're showering to let the steam out. Had a good view of the not to distant strip while showering. A/C worked well too. Room 663.
The hotel's funbook, which you're given when checking in, is loaded with useful coupons. Free cocktails (the bartender told us he honors any of the Coast hotel drink coupons), ice cream, 2 for 1 graveyard breakfast special, etc. The free gift at gift shop was a deck of cards. Each person gets a funbook and we enjoyed using them. We never received freebies like that on the strip.
Casino is light colored, clean but did smell a little smokey at times. Still, it was a clean smoke smell if there is such a thing. Not that smelly old carpet and stale smoke smell that exists at some places. The nice thing about this casino is you can actually afford to gamble here. Even a $3 BJ table open a couple of nights. $2 roulette, $5 craps, 9/6 Jacks or Better at the bar machines. Speaking of the machines at the bars, we had fun playing them and they comp your drinks right away and we'd always make sure to tip them for the effort. Cocktail waitresses came around regularly at the tables too. Some places you wait forever for a waitress to come around and then you never get your drink. You won't have that problem here. Had very friendly dealers. Joined the player's club and even got $3 back in cash before we left. You can tell we're not real big gamblers! :)
Had the breakfast buffet one morning and it was enjoyable and good. Palms buffet across the street is a little cheaper, under $6, and good also. Speaking of the Palms reminds me of another reason the Gold Coast is such great value and that's location. You have the Palms across the street where you can find full pay VP, a great looking casino (my favorite) and good, reasonably priced food. Of course, the Rio is right next door. We walked over there one evening for the parade and that was fun. So it's nice to not be sitting all alone like you would be at the Orleans. The shuttle to Barbary Coast was very useful too and ran steady. You could get along without a rental car by staying here and shuttling to the strip. Depends what you're planning on doing.
If you're looking for a clean, friendly, affordable, well-located casino/hotel then this is your place. We would definitely stay here again and were sad to leave.

- Good Visit If your looking for hotel to stay at and you want to be close to the strip this is the one. Room was spacious and did not have the "mold" smell that some hotel rooms get. Yes the bathroom is small, but its not a problem. Bed was very comfortable. Ate at the Mountery room and the Buffet, food was average. Good value for the price, I would stay here again.

- Good Visit I love the Gold Coast--one of the best casino-hotel bargains around, and a rare find in Las Vegas today. Why?
1. Great, easy location right across the street from the Rio and the Palms, and just a quick, free shuttle ride from the "Center Strip" Barbary Coast as well as the Orleans. This is a real plus in my book, with no taxi driver to pay when you're staying with them.
2. Great room rates and clean, modern, conveniently-located rooms. This isn't Caesars or Wynn, but its certainly no Motel 6 either! My rooms have all been renovated with new everything, are quiet, and are a snap to get to from the casino. Security is posted at the elevators, too.
3. Bright, spacious casino with lots of video poker and low-wager tables. I especially like the $2 craps table they have open quite often.
4. Nice variety of restaurants at reasonable prices. The Cortez Room steakhouse is a bargain, as are the authentic Chinese kitchen and Italian restaurant. Lots of other quick options as well. Nothing is shabby or down-market, and everything is presented well.
5. The staff is nice and the attention personal. This is a Michael Gaughan/Coast Casinos property, and they cater heavily to local business with a stress on great service and value. I always feel "at home" when at the Gold Coast.
In short, the Gold Coast is a well-maintained, up-to-date property, without being totally overwhelming. It has (or is nearby) everything you need in a Las Vegas experience, but at a better value than places on the Strip. Yet, the Strip is very accessible when you want it, and arms-length away when you finally get tired of it!

- Good Visit It seems like everytime I check rates for Las Vegas the Gold Coast is one of the cheapest places to stay. This spring they were running a MasterCard special where you could book for 1/2 price off the advertised rates on certain dates by paying with a MasterCard at time of booking so I decided to try it. I am glad I did.
The rooms were average sized for the age of the place, a nice surprise for the price. The sink, toilet & tub were a weird bronze/gold color which took some getting used to. Think 1969 to 1975. Everything else was good to really good. The rooms are laid out like the rooms at the Orleans but are smaller and feel a somewhat older. The ceilings in the hallways are unusually low giving the place an older feel.
The casino was easy to navigate and has a good supply of low limit tables. They have a small poker area (not really a room) and all the table games you would expect. My only decent luck on slots was at the Gold Coast for what that is worth.
The parking structure is an easy in easy out and very convienent (a short walk) to the casino and the rooms, much easier than at the Orleans. It's a short walk to the Palms & Rio which is a bonus compared to the Orleans. They have a shuttle that will take you to the strip, Barbary Coast or out to the Orleans.
They give each guest a fun book at check-in that is full of free drink coupons as well as others adding to the value.

- Good Visit 1) Rooms nice and large with table and 2 chairs near window. Bathroom is tiny, but unless you are grossly obese, you shouldn't have a problem closing the door behind you. Everything extremely clean and well kept. No fridges or coffee service. Maid service is good. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy.
2) Buffet food is adequate and reasonable if you are not expecting anything fancy. Multiple stations with duplicate popular items prevent logjams. Snack foods along with alcoholic beverages are available in the gift shop at reasonable prices. The Monterrey Coffee Shop also has good food at decent prices. They are open 24 hours and also handle room service so you can't get take-out orders from them. All other restaurants close between 10pm and midnight, so after then, room service is your only option.
3) I only play slots and did not find an adequate selection of the types of slots I enjoy playing. Too many of those new-fangled video slots and not enough plain old reel slots. Video poker machines predominate. Table games looked pretty busy most of the time and I did see a $3 blackjack table.
4) There is a walkway to the Rio and The Palms looks like it's well within easy walking distance. Depending on the traffic, a cab ride to the strip costs between $7 and $10. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to their Barbary Coast hotel on the strip.
All in all, a good stay and I would stay there again.

- Good Visit Great Location - especially if you have a car.
The rooms are small - one note, the "double" rooms are two full size beds - not two queen size beds that most hotels provide. Yes, the bathrooms are very small - so what? One thing, the shower heads are very low - so if you are tall you wil have to duck to shower.
The rooms are very clean - the maid service excellent. If you are not looking for fancy - just for a good value I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.
I would put this in line with the Sahara and the Frontier although the rooms at the Gold Coast are smaller. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a great place to stay as a home base. Rooms were very good, although small. Coffe shop was average, but great ham and eggs. The thing I liked best was that valet parking was very fast both entering and going out. bigger hotels you have a long wait. Played poker across the street at the Palms, 6 min. walk, and the Rio is putting in a new poker room. Great stay and would stay again. It is no Mirage, or Bellagio, but good value.

spent five days here, very boring. The loose slots they claim here was
non-existen, in my five days stay , the biggest hit I saw was an old Aisian
lady won 6000 nickles and she almost fell out of her chair.
Tried the mothers day steak special buffet (11.95) the steak was tough
and the prime rib(?) thin and bland.
Rooms where clean and for $40,00 a day, it was a pretty good price. .

- Good Visit When I booked I requested a smoking room but on arrival they had put me on the fourth floor in a non-smoking room. When I told them I wanted a smoking room they said they didn't have one and it was only when I threatened to leave that they found me one on the ninth floor. When you got out of the lift on the ninth floor you were hit with an awful smell of stale tobacco that it almost made you ill. The room itself was very basic and the bathroom small (even by UK standards) but it was extremely clean. After a couple of nights I got an upgrade to a suite which was very acceptable and I would have no problem staying in one of these again. I found the slots a bit tight but other's around me were doing ok so I guess it was just my bad luck. Value-wise this place takes some beating and with the exception of Terrible Mikes and Kates Corner all of the staff are courteous and friendly. There are shuttle buses to and from the Barbary Coast on the strip which is well worth a visit and the Orleans which is a dump.
I will visit again.

The shuttle took us to the strip and runs every 15 min. Didn't have much luck on the machines for the 1st 3 days but on the last day we did alright. Went home with a few $$$'s.

I love the window you can open in the shower and see Vegas and enjoy the sunshine while showering! Beds are comfy, halls and elevator are clean and have "no funky smells" like a lot do. Always feel safe here. Plenty of dining choices (great food and service), good slots and fun bingo! The gift shop offers lots of reasonably priced gift choices and also has great prices on liquor. Great service by all employees, easy check in and check out.
