On June 23, 2008 we went to the Fremont Hotel/Casino to gamble and dine. We selected the Paradise Buffet, and were promptly seated and told to go select our meals.
Upon returning to the table, we were selecting our beverages, when the waitress told us that the diet Coke was not working and should be fixed soon. We finished dining in 30 minutes and the diet Coke was still not available.
When I asked to speak with the manager, the staff told me that he was working on the soda machine and would be right over.
We waited an additional 30 minutes and finally the manager arrived. When I expressed my unhappiness about not being informed about the diet Coke prior to paying for our meals, he snapped...."it's fixed now". And he walked away.
What lousy customer service. We were offered water, but have you ever tasted the water in Las Vegas??? Almost every household has filtered water, in some way.
We live here, we love to take out of town company to Fremont Street, but we will never go back to the Fremont Hotel/Casino.
One bad apple did spoil the whole bunch.
A~

We spent 3 nights at the Fremont, March 10, 11 & 12. After we left, we realized that we had left our cell phone charging cord in the room (room 925). Since we were already almost back to Phoenix, driving all the way back was out of the question. Subsequently we made 8 phone calls over a 2 day period trying to retrieve the phone cord.

We never once had the opportunity to talk to the same person twice. No one ever said please give me your phone number and I will check and get back with you.

On the second day and the 8th call, someone finally said “we have your cord and you can pick it up”. We explained again that we were to far away and want you to mail it to us. We were told it would cost us 10 dollars and change. We commented “you mean the Fremont will not just send it to us? Just put it in an envelope and mail it. Again we were told no. We asked if she would check with management. The reply was, no we can’t. You will have to pay if you want it mailed to you.

We gave it one last try and told her “we have been going there for years, do you mean that the Fremont refuses to mail it? The reply was, “if you want it, you have to pay”. We told her to keep it.

We have spent thousands of dollars over the past few years in your casino. We will never spend another penny there. There are too many other casino/resorts that place a much higher priority on customer satisfaction.

$10 dollars is nothing. The fact that your greediness over $10 takes priority over customer satisfaction means everything.

For value it simply cannot be touched. The staff is reminiscent of a "mom and pop" motel who are anxious to be of assistance. True, the rooms are not large and there are no "views" and the bathrooms are very small, but for the price paid, you get more than you paid for. I was clued into staying here by a network camera crew-a notoriously cheap group-and there recommendation to try the barbecue. Both good pieces of advice. Though not a frequent visitor to Las Vegas, I'll now consider this my headquarters in the future.

We did not stay at Fremont but we gambled there. Played slots while waiting for each show of the Fremont Street Experience. Seemed like every slot we played was paying out. I had the best luck here than any other casino in Vegas. Would come back to gamble but not stay, always comped at Harrahs.

Although we had never stayed at the Fremont I talked to a slot hostess and told her we had stayed at Stardust many times but when we stayed downtown we stayed at Fitzgeralds. See gave us a very good rate on two rooms. When we checked in it turned out the rooms were suites. My suite was non smoking but I had requested smoking, the front desk said there were no other rooms and to go ahead and smoke ( I didn't). The next day I moved to a regular room. the rooms were very clean and although the bathrooms are small are also very clean and the towells were fluffy, not like the usual scratchy cheap hotel kind. The slots were OK the first night but I gave it back the second night. We went to the California and Main Street Station and played without a lot of luck but I kind of expect that. The only meals we ate there were the breakfast buffet, it was fair but nothing special. We would have tried the cafe for dinner but a sign said it was no smoking but the buffet was smoking so we went elsewhere. Also the is no place to eat late at night except the Lanai Express which is like an asian self serve fast food. They need an all night coffee shop. Again we went elsewhere to sit down and get waited on. Overall it was a good stay downtown. We will stay there again and recomend it to friends

I made reservations for February 8-11, 2006 for 2 king rooms. When we finally made it to the hotel we were told they didn't have us listed. Thank goodness that I had brought my confirmation numbers. The clerk called another hotel and said our reservations were at the California. Fine, only less then a half block away. Got to California two king rooms became one king one double. Fine, nothing going to spoil our fun! I'm just mad that when I made the reservations by calling the "Fremont" number I was NEVER told that we would actually be staying at the California. And another thing, check in time is 3:00 we checked in at 4:30 one of the rooms were not even clean yet. We plan on coming back to Vegas this summer. Thinking twice about calling Fremont

This was our second stay at the Fremont. The first stay was two years ago. We were offered four free nights, even though we have never really gambled much at this property. The Fremont is a great value, even if you have to pay for your room. The rooms are small, with little in the way of a view, and the bathrooms are tiny. However, they are clean and well maintained. They do not pamper you at this hotel, but the staff is friendly and attentive. If you're looking for luxury, this is not the place. But, if you want a good, clean room Downtown in order to rest after a night of gambling and drinking, you really can't go wrong.

We had booked one night at the Fremont at the last minute. Nothing special, just a place to rest our heads before moving to the Strip the next day. Our expectations were beyond met. We found the valet and front desk to be incredibly friendly upon arriving. Upon check-in we learned that we had been upgraded to a mini-suite for no apparent reason. I've never stayed there before, and I'm not a member of any slot club they have, so we became a bit shocked by this. I guess a friendly smile and hello can go far downtown.

The Fremont is a medium sized hotel, which thankfully meant the front desk, elevator, and walk down the hallway to your room was less than 5 minutes. Our room was on the top floor, with a panoramic view of the valley. The mini-suite was very nice, it was set up like a typical room, but with a small area set to the side featuring a VERY comfy sofa, mini-fridge, coffee table, and plant. I'm not sure when the last renovation of the rooms were, but everything seemed very new and in beautiful condition, nice fabrics done in good taste. I thought the shutters instead of drapes were a very nice touch to the room. The bathroom was no Mandalay Bay, but it was typical for a downtown (or any big city) hotel, with clean tile, good lighting, and a fancy shower curtain. The hotel could've easily paid little attention to the rooms, so it was a nice surprise to find a good quality, nicely decorated, super-clean room in an old hotel.

The casino was very old-school (another downtown plus) with high-enough ceilings to prevent claustrophobia. After winning a little on blackjack (VERY friendly dealers) we decided to play some slots just to get rid of some cash. The slots ended up paying very handsomely. While it's next to impossible to not hear the Fremont Street Experience from your room at night, it was never an issue since the shows were only once an hour and stopped at midnight (and if you're in bed before midnight in Vegas, why did you even bother coming?). Before checking out we had the champagne brunch at the buffet. For $15, it was an unbelievable deal. While not as lavish as some of the Strip's brunches, it was fancy enough to fill up quick. I'm not sure what champagne was used but it did indeed leave us with a small buzz.

All-in-all, the Fremont is our first choice for a clean, comfortable, tasteful, friendly, and affordable hotel in the downtown area.

PS- While downtown, head over to Mermaids for a 99¢ fried Twinkie. It sounded disgusting to me at first, but now I am a true fan of this delicious desert! Just trust me!

My only complaint is the Paradise Buffet. Choices at breakfast are excellent, enjoyed everything. But lunch & dinner, the food has changed to "hawaiian". I know the majority of your clientele is from Hawaii, but there are still mainland Americans enjoying your facility & would appreciate food we are familiar with.

Stay here for one night on a saturday. the strip prices were too high because it was a weekend. Rooms and bathrooms were small but I do not spend much time in my room. Found the place to be charming and have an old vegas feel. Do not stay here if you are looking it to be like the mega resorts. Staff is very friendly and dealers are really helpful!

I have stayed at the Freemont now for going on about 5 years. I cannot say enough about the friendly people that work there. I love that you can just walk out the door and your at another casino in about a minute. But of course it's always back to the Freemont for me.I would go to the motorcycle races with my husband and he and friends would go there and I would stay at the Freemont and have a great time. Favorite is the bar have a drink play and the 2 Best bartenders are Frank and Rick!!!!!!! The 2 Best hosteses are Bennett and Elisha hope you are still all there when I come out this May.
I'm counting the days when I will be back to one of the friendlist casinos in Las Vegas. Unfortunitly now my husband has passed a matter of fact it was the next month after we were there in 2003.but I will play his favorite games while I'm there. So freemont I'll see you in May.Angela Paul and Corky too

Just wanted to add a more current review of the Fremont since my wife and I visited the hotel last January 4 & 5th for two nights. We took advantage of their two free nights offer and should've stayed for one more but we had reservations in Laughlin. I regret not staying there one more night because my wife enjoyed downtown--ABC store, Golden Gate Casino's deli/jazz piano player, Plaza's live music. The slots are kind of tight especially the nickel and penny ones. I won quite a few prizes on the craps table. Just join the slot club and present it to the pit boss. If you get over 15 rolls, you get a choice of items. Different prizes if you roll 30, 45, etc. We ate downstairs at the restaurant and it was spacious and suprisingly well decorated with lots of tropical plants. We enjoyed the breakfast menu because they had a lot of rice and egg dishes. We're going back to Las Vegas in March--spring break--but unfortunately, the Fremont's promotions didn't have anything to offer us for 3/20-3/27, so we'll be staying at the Orleans for $60 a nite for two nites and then going to the Las Vegas Hilton for another two and then to Laughlin. But we will, hopefully be back in late May/June and take advantage of the Fremont's four free night offer we received in the mail. Free parking at the Main Street station lot, very secure, just show your room key. If you're walking cut through Binion's through the poker room and go diagonally across the casino, this will save walk time and the entrance is a short block away instead of walking on the street. Good Luck in the fight. Mad Max

Stayed at the Fremont from 8/22-8/28/04. We had a great time. Won some jackpots there at video poker. Played some table games and did pretty good too. I think they have the best video poker machines in the downtown area. Seen many a jackpot.

The rooms here are small but very clean. The bathrooms are really tiny. But they do have a blow dryer and iron & ironing board in the room. The windows have shutters that you can open and close to keep out the light. Also the window slides open a small bit so you can let in some fresh air.

The food here is great!! We ate many times at the Paradise Buffet. I think this is the best buffet in the downtown area. Had Seafood night, T-Bone steak night, etc. The price is good and they have a decent varity of food. They also have a Tony Roma's that's good too.

If you join the players club and play the slots or tables, they are pretty liberal with comps for food and rooms.

I would definitely stay there again. The staff was terrific and the security was great. Felt safe the whole time I was there. Plus you can't beat the location of this casino. You can walk to all the other downtown casinos from there.

If you want to see the Fremont street experience now called Viva Vision you just have to step outside the door.

Go there and you'll have some fun.

We have stayed at this Casino/Hotel for over ten years at least three times a year. We have never had other than friendly relations with everyone on staff.
Sure,,it's not a mega resort, but the value is excellent and the food is also good! I don't believe that you will ever find better cocktail girls than "Sherry" and "Jenny" two of the best in "Las Vegas".

Stayed there March 21-26, 2004. Rooms were small but clean. Bathrooms are tiny as noted on other posts, but served the purpose. I don't spend alot of time in my room except to shower and sleep and this worked just fine for me. Very comfortable bed. Everyone working there was very friendly. Elevators dropped you off right in the casino, very convenient for running up to the room to drop off packages. Got a great price on the rooms. Will definately stay there again.
