My wife and I were one of the first customers when you opened. We both enjoyed the gaming, food, and bowling. we have been in the food industry all our working years. Before coming to LV we work for a gentelman in MI.for 13 years, that bought sick restaurants. My wife and I built back the bussiness witch he kept or sold. I know food very well as it was my life. Quality food, quality service and quality house keeping. When we came back to LV we bought Best Buger in the Meadows Mall. It was on its last leg. When I retired and sold it was doing very well. (sorry for the back ground)

We moved to CA in 2003, my wife passed last Sept. so I moved back to LV. I have gamed and ate at Charlies. First thing I noticed was a change in service at the sour dough cafe. I also noticed that your old Mgr. that started there wasn't there any more. I figured you moved her to Boulder. sour dough has slipped in quality service and quality food. I am sure the $ figures show it even with price increases. A well run ship is only as good as its leader. I am taking the time to write this only because I see something good going down the tubes. Thank you,
Charles Marlatt

This place has the only live poker room where the "dealer" gets to play against the customers with the tips he collects from the players. That's right. When the "dealer" is relieved, he invariably moves over to a player's seat that's been "locked-up" for him. Now, you can lose your money to the house, or to its employees! Half of their slots look like they've been aligned slightly off-center, so that three of a kind only strike once in a blue moon. They must buy their slots at an open-air flea market because half the machines feature graphics so faded that they look like they've been sitting in the desert sun since the last millennium. I think there's one cleaning woman for each 1,000 slots, and she makes the rounds once a month. Consequently, you can expect to find used kleenex, half-drunk drinks, smears on the glass and cigarette butts in the ashtrays. There are, however, two cashiers so you only to stand in line eight hours to cash your hard-earned paycheck. For what it's worth, their "old" casino on Decatur has a little humanity left, whereas the "new" one on Boulder Highway is a lifeless crock of crap. I only go there for the $1.99 Belgian pancakes.

We hated staying at Arizona Charlie's Decatur. The place had a bad smell and creepy atmosphere. The rooms were reasonably clean, but old and cramped. We had to practically beg housekeeping to clean our room and provide fresh towels.

Check-in and check-out took a ridiculous amount of time. All the employees at this hotel seemed very, very unhappy.

The only positive comment I can make is about the buffet. Good food, good service and clean. But I wouldn't step foot in the place again just for the buffet. We can go to any Station casino for that and not have to deal with all the other bad factors.

Wouldn't stay again, even if it was free.

I was there four nights Sunday thru Thursday and luckily had a rental car because I never saw one cab and not only that the price would be very high since it is 5 miles and a lot of stop lights from the strip. There are only a few tables and during my stay they only had one Roulet, one Craps, one three card poker and a few blackjack tables. Primarily its all slots. The buffet was cheap and suprisingly very good. The coffee shop the Sour Dough Cafe has steak and eggs for less than $3 dollars but there is almost always a line since there are far more locals than hotel guests eating there. The band they had playing in the Naughty Ladies Saloon was very good and free. The pool is very small and too cold to enjoy, however there were towels and a number of chairs. I enjoyed the large number of 9/6 video poker slot machines. I also liked the fact the hotel is small so the walk to your room from the elevator was pretty short and the walk through the hotel to your car is pretty short too. There was not much nearby that I wanted to walk to. I liked the hotel and will return however if you want to spend everyday on the strip the 20 - 30 minutes to get there you might not like.

I stayed at AZ Charlies Thursday and Friday Night during the 2004 Nascar weekend. There was 6 guys (2 rooms). Checkin was very easy. The rooms were okay for the price payed (very cheap to stay). The Drink service in the casino was great at times and very very poor at times but I guess thats expected on big event weekends. The one thing that I was very very pleased with was the Buffet. We went for the Lunch Buffet one Day and the Dinner the next. It was excellent. Not as Great as the RIO but it was very much compairable if not better than the buffet at Bally's and the price was under $10.00 per person. I mean it was excellent, it impressed us immensly. Now here comes the horror. There is no cabs in Vegas that will take 6 People. The vans will only take 5. We waited outside AZ charlies one afternoon for 2 hours to get cabs. The first one came 1 hr. into the wait and the seciond an hour after that. We made 5 or more trips to the front desk asking them to call us cabs and she kept saying that there were cabs on the way, that she had just called and there was no point in her calling again because they would just tell her that the cabs were on the way (i was thinking.. why dont you call more than one cab company you dummy) We waited and finally one showed up. That was pretty much the only major down fall of the trip. I mean any other hotel in vegas there are cabs lined up waiting to take you. AZ Charlies 2 cabs in 2 Hours, thats not acceptable at all in my eyes.
All in all its a good cheap stay but don't make any plans to leave the casino at a certain time because the Cab service there is horrible, so bad that i am going to write AZ Charlies a letter.
