When it comes to Las Vegas everyone has their opinions about hotels, casinos and restaurants. For all sorts of gaming information we recommend that you visit this site. Date Visited: 06/09 - Good Visit We have been visiting Vegas 2 or 3 times a year for 20+ years and this was our first stay at the MGM. We received an internet offer of 3 comped weekend nights and some free play, so we decided to take up their offer. Check-in was smooth and quick and our room was just off the main lobby and close to the elevator. Room was dated but clean and everything was working. The only service problems we encountered was at the Studio Cafe which I suggest you avoid. No problems at any of the other restaurants and bars we visited. We did not like the heavy fragrance in the Casino but it didn't stop us from enjoying our visit. <gjl32 -at- shaw.ca> - USA - Added 07/02/09 - [70.65.195.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/09 - Good Visit easy check in, clean rooms, great rates and an excellent breakfast buffet a good value <hruseckm -at- bellsouth.net> - Pembroke Pines FL USA - Added 07/01/09 - [173.109.120***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 08/08 - Undecided The check in was bad. Clerk argued that we needed to pay extra for a lake view room. I stated that one had already been paid for and asked her to check to reservation. She stated that the reservation did not show one had been paid for. I asked for the manager, immediately she found a lake view room. The bed sucked. We asked for another room with a better bed. According to the front desk there was no other lake view room with a better bed. Yea right. The bellman that brought up the bags noticed that we had booze with us and iced it down before bringing it to the room. That was a nice touch and got him a tip. Overall it was probably our worst room and worst hotel we have stayed in during one of our stays in LV. The wife says that the problem was that we stayed at the Wynn for the first 3 nights and then checked into Paris the final 3. She maintains that had it been the other way around we would not have expected the same level of competence and service that we did coming from and being spoiled by the Wynn. We will never stay or gamble at Paris or any other Harrah' owned casino again. <mrkwp -at- yahoo.com> - Columbus OH USA - Added 06/25/09 - [68.77.186.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/08 - Good Visit From the time we got out of the car at valet until the time we left everyone made us feel welcome. The buffet was really nice, bright and good food, awesome sushi and crab legs. Have received several offers for free or $39/night rooms, which we've taken advantage of. Would rather stay here than any other place in Las Vegas. These are probably the nicest rooms I’ve stayed in while in Las Vegas. Big TV, another TV in the bathroom, great shower area and great views are some of the highlights. I did think it odd that they didn’t have a coffee maker, while their sister property Green Valley Ranch did. As with most Station Casinos, the casino is very nice and one wouldn’t need to leave the property if they didn’t want to with all the dining, recreation and gaming options. The spa is awesome, and I suggest you take advantage of it if you stay here, as I believe there is an unavoidable resort fee added (even if you're comped in some cases). <ban -at- eltechsystems.com> - Mentor OH USA - Added 05/20/08 - [63.239.58***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/08 - Good Visit What can you say, stay at most places on the strip and this is by far the best. It's a really nice hotel. Pool area was nice. Hotel service was great. Since it's the southern most property on the Strip, we had to take cabs to get around. CAUTION: CAB SERVICE ON THE STRIP IS SHADY AT BEST. It cost us $18.90 to get from MB to the Hard Rock. Even though this destination is 2.2 miles NE, the cab driver started south, then headed west, then north and finally east. $9 later we were no closer than when we started. We told him to start with how we wanted to get there but he just went about it the roundabout way. It was pretty much false imprisonment and if there isn't a law in Nevada against this, there should be. <rvaldez4108 -at- gmail.com> - Albuquerque NM USA - Added 05/31/09 - [71.222.203.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 - Good Visit Enjoyed stay very much. It was a bit spotty on the maid service this time. No bath towels when we moved into our room. Then some days 3 towels other days one. There doesn't seem to be much maid follow up inspection being done. Buffet was good as usual even better were free buffets if you got 200 points on Mondays (had to over 50 years old) and free buffet on Thursdays with 250 points.(This was their May special deals) Very good deals considering points like this wouldn't even earn you a dollar normally (I think you need about 1000 points for 1 dollar cash back). Played nickel poker for about an hour to get points for free buffets. Stayed in the older rooms but they were clan as usual. We love the location since we normally have a car and the Gold Coast provides you good access for where we wanted to go. Gambling was OK. Machines seem a little tighter in the current recession. All in all a good stay. <r.klein -at- sasktel.net> - Regina SK Canada - Added 05/27/09 - [71.17.17.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 - Undecided Stayed here as a special treat to ourselves for our 25th wedding anniversary. We stayed 2 nights as part of a promotion we were mailed, 2 nights for $129 per night and you get $150 in slot credits. This was the first two nights of a 12 night stay in Las Vegas. Room was great all the gizmo's you could want controlled from a panel beside the bed. Beautiful decor and design. Speaking of gizmo's watch out for the mini snack bar (items removed from their sensor pads for more that 60 seconds are automatically charged to your room). But now for the bad news. We were on the 20th floor looking out over the pool area (no problem with that) As we go to retire that night about 1:30 am (Sunday night) I lay down and it sounds like I am in a cheap hotel and someone is having a dance party in the next room. I put my ear to the mirrored wall and nothing from the room next door. I look down at the pool area, nothing going on down there. I call down to the front desk and find out the XS nightclub is in full gear and leaves it doors open to the pool area channeling that euro dance beat non stop until 4:00 in the morning. OH JOY. They offer to move us, but my wife says she is not packing up to move at this time of night. She tells me suck it up princess and go to sleep. I get to sleep at about 4:00 am after the music stops. The next night, same stuff. I would be very upset if I paid full price and especially if I had a room at a lower floor where the sound must have been louder yet. I complain at checkout also and I am informed they know about the problem. My question is what are they going to do about it. Now to the gambling (or should I say the red card club). We played our credits and made some money on our credits. No problem there. I was a new card member so after getting a certain number of points you get to spin the wheel to get a prize, the lowest prize being $10 slot play which of course I get (and probably so does 98% of other spinners). I am not upset with this this is to be expected. Now the red card club employee says if I give him an email address he will increase it to $20 slot credit. So I give him one of my crap email addresses that I hardly use. Then we leave to spend the rest of our stay at our other hotel (Gold Coast) and plan to come back next week sometime to play my slot credits. So we come back next about a week later and guess what? No slot credits. A nearby slot attendant informs me that credits expire 72 hour after being applied (she also implied in a snarky tone that everyone knows that). We, of course were never informed about this. Bitched and complained for about half an hour and finally got credits reinstated. We played them and then got the hell out of Dodge (probably never to return) So if you stay here get a room facing away from the pool and make sure thy explain all the rules about credits. <r.klein -at- sasktel.net> - Regina SK Canada - Added 05/26/09 - [71.17.17.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 SLow service in restruant and some dealers can't smile or talk. One elderly one kept dropping the chips. There is a new parking facility but they have not put in van accessible handicapped parking, a federal requirement or handicapped for side-lift vans, another category added by Nevada law. Inside, they place signs on the floor that leave less than 3 feet of clearance and wheelchairs cannot pass. When asked about it one employee said talk to security, but they didn't know. When one employee was asked to move a sign when I stated this was a federal requirement, she said no one tells the casino what to do and walked off laughing. Very user unfriendly for the handicapped and they should avoid until changes are made. <txv -at- cox.net> - Las Vegas NV USA - Added 05/24/09 - [72.193.168.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 - Good Visit Undecided on whether to rate a good visit or undecided, but the service inclined me to go with good visit.Bally's has possibly the best location on the strip.Bally's has very large, clean rooms...and ours was recently renovated (thus the "deluxe" moniker)But our particular room #860, had the worst view of any place we have ever been in Sin City. The windows were absolutely filthy, surely due to the fact that they cuold only be cleaned by some out of work Cirque performer climbing on the roof that the room "overlooked".Aside from the view, the hotel has it's act together.Classic Vegas meets hip Tequila Bar!!! <madmarty56 -at- yahoo.com> - Fayetteville NC USA - Added 05/19/09 - [71.50.131.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 - Bad Visit We had a comp offer to Main Street Station but for the dates we selected they were full, so attempted to put us up at California. That also failing because the Cal was also full, reservations were made for us at the Fremont. We have been customers of MSS for years and this has happened once before when we call at the last minute, so we accepted the move. We arrived to inattentive desk clerks who informed us that we'd been placed in a smoking room, contrary to our requests. When we protested the answer was essentially "It's the last room, take it or leave it". OK, we were arriving at 11PM, but still - at least pretend to look in the computer to see if there's anything else available. Upon opening the door (room 721) we were assaulted by a blast of stale smoke odor of similar density to a cigar smoker blowing into your face. Since we had every hope of getting things straighted out at MSS, we dropped bags, stopped at the desk again to ask for anything else and got the same answer - no. But a tour operator near the desk heard our plea and told us that a big group was leaving the next morning and a bunch of rooms would open up at 9AM. So we went to MSS to escape the stench. While there we asked our host and the front desk if we had any other possible options - even a hotel hop between Cal and MSS different nights - but to no avail. But the host did promise to call over to Fremont and get Housekeeping to air out the room, and to do what she could to get them to open up another room the next day. After a few hours we returned and found the room had improved to barely tolerable so decided to catch a couple hours sleep. At 8 I got up and used the facilities, and found a live cockroach in the bathroom. At 8:45 the desk clerk was getting my full attention. Whether due to host intervention, the day shift clerk being a reasonable person or the movement of the tour group, rooms were available. So they moved us to 1426. This room was without cockroaches and the odor of smoke was far less, so we were reasonably satisfied. The casino offered nothing of interest to us as there were no video poker games with worthwhile pay tables. For a diversion at one point I went down and played a few dollars on Pick-em, a game only available at Fremont, but 99.5% of our play was elsewhere. On the way to and from the Pick-em game, though, I was treated to the Fremont security guards harrassing a gentleman about sitting in a Keno chair when the Keno games were not being played. Overall, my impression is of a run-down place that you go to only if you don't know better or are forced to go to when your intended reservation runs awry. I'd never pay money to stay there, and there are far better games within a couple blocks walk. <jtanderson662 -at- netzero.com> - USA - Added 05/17/09 - [64.107.169***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 Spent 4days/3nights at The Paris and enjoyed every minute of it, check in took all of about 5 minutes as we arrived on a Tuesday around 11 a.m., bell service was fast and friendly as was the check in person. We were given a room on the 16th floor and it was clean and well prepared. Spent several hours at the pool area during the trip and found that drink service is very good, and the pool area was kept clean during the day as people were always picking up the wet towels or re-stacking the chairs. Ate at Mon Ami Gabi (on the patio) and there too the service was excellent and attentive, also ate at the cafe, buffet, and bakery several time during our stay and found the food to be of high quality, and the service beyond reproach, someone was always asking if everything was good and if we had any problems. The entire area of the Paris was always clean and well attended, drink service at the pool and casino were excellent, the only issue during this whole trip are the crowd of sleazebags between Paris and Bally's or Planet Hollywood "snapping" and handing out flyers for "Girls direct to your room" they approach anyone and everyone with their junk and most of the time it appears to find its way to the street creating a HUGE litter problem, between this and the sales people coming onto you as you enter or leave the neighboring casinos this was a very enjoyable trip. I only mention these 2 issues as a warning to other visitors and it does not reflect badly on the Paris, THIS PROPERTY WAS TOP NOTCH AND WILL BE FIRST ON OUR LIST OF PLACES TO STAY AGAIN IN VEGAS. I am one of those people who say the money lost is the cost of my vacation so it's all worth it. This was my first time staying at harrahs and my wife and I were looking forward to going to a different casino as we always stayed at Tropicana,The new frontier and The Desert Inn before their demise. We hoped that maybe we could find a casino that we enjoyed to play and stay at as much as we loved the old Desert Inn, but this wouldn't be it. It was a nice casino with good rooms that we were happy with but we had a hard time enjoying our time in the casino and so we started searching elsewhere for prospective places to go. My biggest complaint with Harrahs was lack of comps while we were there and the music was a little too loud for me but I could get past that if I had too. Overall everything was good at harrahs just not my type of place. I would recommend to others if I was asked but I will be trying another place in May 09 <stepkatie -at- live.ca> - Chatham ON canada - Added 05/15/09 - [24.150.207.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/09 - Good Visit Love this hotel and service is above par. Stayed in a Tower Room and upon check-in was offered an upgrade for a nominal fee for a suite, which we took advantage of and are so glad we did! The suite was very spacious, nicely decorated and clean. We understood they had redecorated the rooms somewhat recently and the suite was very nice. The staff was exceptional too, as everyone we encountered was very helpful and friendly. The onsite restaurants were ok, the buffet not so great but then again we went to the buffet at Mandalay Bay also and that wasn't very good either...I guess once you've hit the ones at the Bellagio and Paris you really can't compare. The steakhouse at The Luxor, Tender, we thought was very overrated also and the service not very attentive. However, again since we were at The Luxor for a business event, we enjoyed several meals from the catering department and the food was EXCELLENT, which is usually the very much the opposite - so kudos to The Luxor's events department! My one major complaint with The Luxor is the location, which is at the very end of the strip. The hotels that are adjacent to it, The Excalibur (which was disgusting) and Mandalay Bay (which was ok) are not that impressive. Otherwise, if you don't mind walking the strip A LOT or taking advantage of taxis (as the monorail isn't available that far at the end of the strip) the you might want to give the Luxor a chance - it certainly gave us a really pleasant surprise! Or if you are planning a business event, as their staff made everything run smoothly and the food was fantastic! For a strictly pleasure trip though, we'll stick with The Paris or Bellagio as we love their locations much better. <Lmshaw68 -at- aol.com> - USA - Added 05/13/09 - [205.188.116.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/09 - Good Visit Encore is beautiful. We've stayed at Wynn several times since it opened 4 years ago and wanted to try their new addition. I spend way too much time looking online at pictures and reviews before I travel to Las Vegas so when I walked into our suite (standard room at Encore) I was really impressed. I'd seen it on the Encore website but the pictures just didn't look nearly as nice as in person! They are really spacious and decorated very tastefully. If you are the type that truly only sleeps in the hotel room, then no need staying at Encore or Wynn. But if like us you spend more time in the room in Las Vegas, Encore is a great choice. The service throughout the entire Wynn resort is second to none! It was on the 20th floor of the Carnival Tower. (2033). It was a partial view of the strip. The room apperared to be cleaned and housekeeping kept up with it daily. Towels were replenished. The utilities worked well. Excellent water preasure for the shower and toilette, as well as hot water. The floor noise level was minimal. The only exception was the nightly eruption of the volcano in fron of the Mirage which was loud but a great event to watch. I took several pictures from my room. The elevators were quick and never a long wait wae experienced. The free shuttles to the other Harrah's properties to the rear of the hotel were of a great mode of transportation. The Check in/Out staff were courteous and expedient. The casino floor staff: Cocktail servers/security and slot attendents were satisfactory. The Dueling Pianos Bar and The Legends in Concert are a must to see. I utilized the Flavors buffet located in Harrah's and no complaints as there was a large selection to choose from. The Carnival Court is another must to see as it is always lively. The casino floor seemed to have a many players at all times of the day/night. Not much won in jackpots but this is Vegas now. I suggest joining their " Total Rewards " program for comps. My whole trip was comped from them. The poker room is small but they do offer a nightly tournament. The aftrenoon magic show is good and a great value with 2-4-1 coupons. Folies Bergere was a marvelous show and it will be sorely missed. The room was clean and had all the necessaties incl an in-room safe. The view from the room was spectacular, same view from the outside elevators. The hostess in the restaurant sure did not like her job, if reflected in her face and the service there was rediculously slow, however the food was good. We were going to eat at the Burger place but one look at it changed our mind, went to Harrah's instead. The Casino is in rough shape and should be torn down, it really was a dump. Plan on waiting if you need to take the elavators, they go at only one pace ant that is slow and you spend more time waiting than anything. If you want to play for fun, they have $5 roulette, $5 black jack, etc. <petunnie -at- aol.com> - Brighton MI USA - Added 04/27/09 - [64.12.116.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/09 Didn't stay here but played here. Slots very high tight at Caesars and the casino has changed so much. I didn't like it. It was smaller than I remember it to be and the Pussycat Doll pit really doesn't match with the theme of the resort and frankly, looks silly. Drink service was below average. Looks like Caesars is more interested in spreading out all over the strip rather than tending to their casino/gaming areas. Lot of dirty machines as well as out of service machines while we were there. Would like to eventually stay here one day...we try to stay at a different property each visit, but won't stay there our next trip until I re-visit. <petunnie -at- aol.com> - Brighton MI USA - Added 04/27/09 - [205.188.116.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/09 - Good Visit Just returned from a four night stay at the Mirage. All was well with the hotel itself. Clean rooms, easy check in, easy check out. Comps were good! We are not high rollers by any means...but between myself and my husband we played probably $2500 or more at the MGM properties and ended up getting all food and drinks comped off our bill. That was great and we were happy about that! Had lunch at the Carnegie Deli the day we arrived. While the food was good, the sandwhiches are HUGE. No way a person can eat an entire one alone. You can't even pick it up, you have to cut it up. They are $20 or more each and they charge you $3 more if you wish to order just one and share it. That's crazy. You can't take part of it with you, as you cannot use the fridge in your room for your personal things, nor can you move anything without being charged. Wouldn't recommend eating in the Carengie, buy it and eat it elsewhere! Ha! Kokomo's Steak House has wonderful food, but is very, very pricey as everything is ala carte. The prime rib is as big as your head! Totally worth the money, but this too, you'll never finish. Order the filet, it is more manageable. The buffet was not impressive. Food was often slightly warm, choices small, and sometimes near empty and not soon to be replaced. We did eat there for breakfast each morning though as it was fast, okay, and there. Saw Terry Fator while there. He was fantastic! Would highly recommend seeing this very talented person. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms very small. The housekeeping service evidently begins at 8 am. Did not appreciate door knocks at 8 am. Should have put the sign up, but didn't realized the maids would be knocking at 8 am. They'd knock at 8 am too, but oddly, the rooms weren't ever cleaned before 1. Housekeeping "forgot" to add new towels and washclothes into our room so had to call for those at 3 am. They were brought up promptly. Drink service is the best here. Visited almost all strip properties as we usually do while in Vegas, and Mirage and MGM had the best drink service. Always somebody there bringing or asking. Slots are VERY tight. That was disappointing. I don't care if I win buckets of money, but it is nice to win enough to keep playing. That didn't seem to really happen anywhere. The entire four day stay I only saw one hand pay of $1200. I did win money here and there, as did my husband, but not the way we used to in Vegas. No you cannot win everytime or even expect to win, but it was obvious that things are tight throughout. Table games like Craps and Roulette are crowded. Table limits are okay, but I myself enjoy playing Roulette with $5-$15 table limits. Didn't see many of those and those I did see were crowded. Went over to MGM Grand and Imperial Palace to play tables. Lots of lower limits. Too many kids in this hotel. I will NEVER understand why people bring their children to Vegas. If you're there for a wedding or some other event, stay in a HOTEL, not a resort. Drinking, smoking, gambling, prostitutes....really...I know I didn't appreciate tripping over kids here and there. Take your children to Disney and stay at a resort...not in Vegas. So crazy. There seemed to be a lot of kids at the Mirage compared to other properties we visited this trip. The Casino is fun and rewarding. More than once I have put $20 into a machine and played for hours only to cash out at several hundred. The drink staff can be slow but if you flip them $5 dollars instead of the normal buck your glass will never be empty. Even though it does not sit in the middle of the strip it is an effortless walk to everywhere. I mean, how do you experience Vegas sitting in the back seat of a cab anyway? The nice thing about the Stratosphere is the player comp program. The level of play is set very low to start earning great rewards. A friend talked a group of us attending a bachelor party into visiting this property because he liked the location. We are all in our mid thirties and were not interested in Palms, Hard Rock or any of the other "party" properties. Upon arriving, check in was a little longer than I would have hoped. Despite arriving at nearly 8:00 PM, when the room was supposed to be available at 4:00 PM; I was told that I would have to wait. While I was waiting, I ate at the cafe located inside the hotel close to the lobby. More later, but I ended up getting food poisoning. In any event, my room was eventually available sometime just before 9:00 PM. When I made the treck through the casino to get to the elevator to get to my room, I discovered that I was given a room with a king bed instead of a room with two queens as I had requested since I had a friend arriving later in the week to stay with our group for the bachelor party. I had to go back to the lobby to get the issue corrected. Despite paying extra for a view of the strip, I instead had a view of only Imperial Palace which is located next door. The casino floor is very unimpressive compared to most Vegas casinos. I did most of my gambling at other Harrahs owned properties. Sadly, I even found the casinos at Imperial Palace and Flamingo better; although I spent most of my time gambling at Paris. Well, I spent the first two days of my trip at Harmon Urgent Care and in my room recovering from the food at the cafe. The buffet left much to be desired, and after two days I decided not to eat at Harrahs anymore. The pool at Harrahs is not much better than you would find at any hotel in any town in the country. It is bascially boxed in between Harrahs and IP. The party pit is nothing more than a tent serving drinks while a cover band plays in the background. The walkway located near the party pit is like having several mall kiosks located on the sidewalk. The poker room is well run. The service at the sports-book is good. However, the sports-book is basically made up of old black-jack tables made to look like bar high top tables. All in all, I will not return to Harrahs. I do not expect a great deal, but edible food, clean air and the correct room are not too much to ask. If you wish to stay at a cheaper Harrahs property, you would be better off at Flamingo or Ballys. <rhendrix -at- jfblaw.com> - Woodstock GA USA - Added 03/11/09 - [98.219.10.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/08 - Good Visit I have stayed at Paris several times over the past few years. All in all, I find it to be a good property. Although I do like this property, I have always found check in to be longer than I would like. Typcially, I have had to wait in line for between 20-40 minutes. The rooms are nicely furnished, but small. Housekeeping does a good job. The elevators are genearlly crowded. Now that I have stated the negatives, I will move on to the positives. The casino ambiance is great. The casino staff is friendly, and the drink service is better than most Vegas properties. There are a number of small bars spaced perfectly throughout the casino floor. The variety of eating establishments is great. The Eiffel Tower restaurant was excellent, and the view was amazing. The buffet at Paris is one of the best, if not the best in Vegas. Mon Ami Gabi is great for food and people watching. There is another restaurant located next to the buffet that has excellent food and service. A burger place is located in the walkway to Bally's that is great for a quick bite. Paris has a great location. It is right in the middle of the strip, across from Bellagio. Paris is connected to Bally's, which makes walking to other casinos nice if you want to avoid the heat. I did not visit the pool. I did see the Anthony Cools show, which was probably good; but I was a participate in the show and did not get to watch. I have not been impressed with the poker room at Paris. During my last visit to Vegas, I stayed at another property in Vegas; and when I went to check a tournament time at the Paris poker room, it appeared to be closed. The sports-book at Paris is not very good. The staff is very courteous, but it is not a very good place to enjoy watching sporting events. Although I have made some negative comments, I do have great affection for Paris. Most important to me, is that I am usually able to get my room comped very easily. The total rewards program does reward players with great room comps. I am not a high roller. I budget $1,200.00 per day for gambling. I normally play black-jack, craps and other table games at anywhere between $10.00 to $50.00 per hand. I will say that I was pretty shocked to see that I was able to find lower table minimums at higher end properties such as Bellagio and Mandalay Bay; probably because there is a larger casino floor with more tables. <rhendrix -at- jfblaw.com> - Woodstock GA USA - Added 03/11/09 - [98.219.10.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/09 - Good Visit I visited this property in Feb. of 09. The property was selected by office vote for a small office retreat. I visit Vegas twice a year, and I normally stay at Paris. My expectations for the visit were low after reading prior posts regarding the snottiness of the property. Having now stayed at the property, I can say that those posts were incorrect. The check-in was excellent. A bell-hop met us at the taxi and made sure that our luggage was taken to our room. The front desk was more than adequately staffed, and we did not have to wait in line. The room was ready despite arriving prior to check in time. The rooms were immaculate. The bathroom area was very nice, and the room was spacious compared to others where I have stayed in Vegas. I am not a high roller. Typically I budget $1,200.00 per day for gambling. I bet anywhere from $10.00 to $50.00 per hand at black-jack, craps and other table games. While I expected to be treated poorly because I am not a high roller, I found exactly the opposite. The casino staff was excellent, and the drink service was beyond what I have found at other properites. I have gambled at nearly every property in Vegas, and no where have I found better drink service. I was able to find $10.00 minimum craps tables at any time of day or night. I did discovery that $25.00 minimum bets were required to be rated at the black-jack and roulette tables. The cleanliness of the entire property was beyond my expectations. Our room was serviced twice per day. I was pleased to see that there was security at the elevators that checked for room keys. The sports-book and the poker room were the best I have seen in Vegas. Although the sports-book was very posh, I was a little disappointed that the same bets were not avaialble that were avaialable at many other properties. I had to go to other properties to make my sports bets, but I would prefer to watch the games at Bellagio. The buffet at Bellagio was excellent, although it did not offer the variety of that of some of the other Vegas buffets such as Rio, Paris and the Wynn. There were very good places to eat in Bellagio, but I was a little disappointed with the service at Olives. That being said, the food was excellent, and much better than the food that I have had at some other higher end places in Vegas. We Went to the cirque show O, which I did not enjoy, and my wife was not thrilled either. Love at Mirage was much better. Did not check out the pool since it was February. Check out was as easy as check in. Despite not being a high roller, all of the meal and drink charges to my room were comped. Since my Feb. visit, I have received email offers for lower rates at Mirage and Mandalay Bay (I gambled at these properties, albeit much less than at Bellagio). However, I have not received any offers from Bellagio. All in all, I had a very good visit, and would love to stay at this property again. But, if given the choice of staying at this property again for the $159.00 per night that I paid; or staying for free at Paris, I would likely stay at Paris. I am staying at Mandalay Bay in April, so I am interested to see how it compares. <rhendrix -at- jfblaw.com> - Woodstock GA USA - Added 03/11/09 - [98.219.10.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/07 - Good Visit First you need to take into account this isn't Vegas, it's stateline. The fact is that it is very much one of several high end Vegas hotels that tend to blend in with each other once you're on the elevators heading up to your room. I'm no high roller, so the room I had was pretty standard, along the lines that you would get at a Westin--clean, simple, tasteful, but nothing out of the ordinary. As it turns out, that's all I look for in a hotel--that, a flat-screen HD TV with full cable, a comfortable bed and a great shower. The Bellagio was simply "okay" in this category. The casino is like most other high-end casinos. Blindfold me, drop me off in the middle of the casino, and unless I saw any identifying signs, I would have no clue as to which hotel I was in. The thing about five-star hotels elsewhere is that you FEEL like you're in an exclusive hotel. The Bellagio and any other high-end hotel along the strip invites anyone to come on in, so you'll have the whole spectrum of visitors walking around the public areas. Nothing wrong with that, except there is a major difference in "feel" between any five star LV hotel (not just the Bellagio) and five star hotels in other resort areas around the world. On the positive side, nice pools and the psychological plus of telling people that you are staying at the Bellagio. Is it worth paying the price for that? I suppose it depends on how much money you have. <haibbrooks -at- yahoo.com> - New York NY USA - Added 02/28/09 - [173.16.87.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/09 - Bad Visit Booked a suite for two days and did on line room upgrade. We checked in on Valentine's Day to stay for four nights for trade shows that were in town. The first night we stayed there, there was a cricket in our closet, which seemed odd since we were on the 14th floor in the desert in the middle of winter. However, this was nothing compared to what happened next. I awoke the third day COMPLETELY COVERED in bed bug bites. We filed a complaint and a security guard had to come up and take photos of my bites. When we went to check out of the hotel moments later, they were barely apologetic and told us that there was nothing they could do, that only a legal service provider would be able to contact us and help us. My employers were furious (I was too busy hysterically crying in their lobby), and eventually we got them to refund the money from our stay (I couldn't believe that this was even an issue for them) as well as dry clean all of our clothes. We took the money we got back and spent our last night at the Wynn Encore... it goes without saying that this place was spotless. It's now three days later and the bites are still appearing (the internet says it could take up to 14 days for all bites to appear), I'm incredibly disgusted and uncomfortable, and I'm terrified that somehow we've taken the bugs home with us. PLEASE save yourself the worry and do not stay at the Sahara. <orlystrout -at- gmail.com> - Jackson Heights NY USA - Added 02/21/09 - [74.72.242.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 10/08 - Undecided First stay at New York New York, we arrived on a Saturday @ 11am, I have been to Vegas at least 8 times and this was the first time we had to wait until late afternoon to get into our rooms. Paid extra for a view room so we were in the Chrysler Tower, overlooking the rollercoaster & a view of the MGM. We had a Park Avenue room and it was the smallest room I have ever been in Las Vegas, but the elevators were fairly fast. Though the hotel has a good location it is a nice walk to get to the monorail. The checkin staff were friendly, but the slots were so tight, I might as well have thrown money on the floor. It also seems that there are alot of people with their children constantly in the casino, which makes for an unpleasant time. Plus, they were still working on the ROC nightclub, which is in the middle of the casino, and that was a real mess. On the bright side Nine Fine Irishmen was excellent, as usual and we ate one night at the Gonzalez Y Gonzalez, and the food was excellent. This was the first and last time we will stay at New York New York, it was not what we expected. <redrocker -at- zoominternet.net> - Austintown OH USA - Added 02/21/09 - [72.23.103***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/09 - Good Visit This hotel was so clean, the staff was so friendly and kind. I remember the last time we stayed there (2006) my wife and I both mentioned how the casino and hotel looked "tired". We were impressed by the recarpeting project in the casino. The area looked much better than on our last visit and now they need to work on the recarpeting in the rooms. As others have mentioned, this hotel and casino is not on the strip but just a short trip by shuttle or rental car or taxi. We had a rental car and appreciated not being on the strip with all of the congestion that brings. The facility has a bowling alley and also a multi-screen movie theater. It also has an arena attached for larger crowds. The staff was friendly and attentive. The one problem we did have with housekeeping was addressed immediately and completely. Our room went uncleaned one day until 6:00 p.m. After a phone call to the housekeeping supervisor it was taken care of quickly. This is a large hotel and casino with many dining opportunities. The buffet is very standard fare with the staff, again, being attentive and friendly. I would rate the buffet as average. We stayed during the weekend of Super Bowl Sunday. As you might imagine there was a significant crowd, but the hotel did a great job setting up big screen TVs in several places around the casino. There are two other negative things I have to report. On Monday after the Super Bowl the cantina was closed during happy hour. This was despite numerous large signs in the casino advertising "Happy Hour 3-5 in the Cantina daily". I guess everyone was tired after the big party the previous day. Remember, this is not the Bellagio or Wynn. It is a reasonably priced hotel and casino off the strip. The value for the dollar spent is very good. We stayed for three nights (including the Super Bowl night) for a total price of $140. There is a "resort fee" (read revenue enhancement) of $5 per day which one cannot opt out of. When I went to the business center to print two airline boarding passes I was charged $2. I thought this was a little much. The $5 is to allow local calls and a limited amount of internet time. I would stay at the Orleans again and overall thought they did an excellent job. <rjbossung -at- yahoo.com> - Lincoln NE 68516 - Added 02/18/09 - [76.79.17***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/08 - Good Visit I have been staying off and on at the Monte Carlo since 2004. This hotel seems to be perfect for me for a few reasons. 1. Center of the action on the strip 2. The price is unbeatable for the location 3. No kids running around (NY NY is terrable for that) 4. The poker room and sports book is very nice and inviting 5. The distance from anywhere in the building to the strip or to the elevator pod is never more than a 5 minute walk, if that. The only thing that I can say I was disapointed about on my most recent trip was the fact that the sports book has started to hand out those darn drink coupons when you place a bet. It was so nice when you could just sit in the sports book and get drinks non stop without the use of a coupon. It kinda cheepens the whole atmosphere. I place many bets in the sports book and would just rather not have to hand the gal a business card looking coupon everytime I want a drink. I guess to many people were taking advantage of that perk. Brand steak house was very good. I will write about that in the proper section. All in All it was another great stay at the Monte Carlo. The best bang for the buck on the strip in my opinion. <devongurniak -at- hotmail.com> - Thompson MB Canada - Added 03/29/04 - [205.200.18***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/09 - Good Visit I stayed at the Gold Spike for my friends birthday weekend. We spent months preparing and researching to pick just the right hotel, and we were fairly happy with our choice. Upon arriving on our shuttle from LAS, we couldn't help but notice the beauty of the pyramid, and the Criss Angel hummer out front. We walked into the hotel to the right to check in, and like many others was asked if why we were in vegas. TIMESHARE!!!! RUN RUN RUN. Anyone who does not have a hotel nametag, but seems very friendly is trouble! Tell them you're leaving that day, or simply ignore them all together. When we finally got away and over to check in it was too early. We were directed over to the bell stand where they greeted us, took our stuff and we were on our way to explore. Once we returned to checked in, we put down our $100 per night deposit, and upgraded our room to a spa suite for our last night. The lady at the desk was extreemely helpful and friendly. She gave us our free stuff like food and game credits and answered all of our questions with a smile. We walked around the corner to the elevator, up to the 6th floor, and all the way down the hall to our room. Upon first look i thought, wow, this is.... different; and what's that smell? The carpet was alittle drab, and the bathroom out dated with a funky smell. But the smell went away soon after, and the view of the front lawn was nice. The entertainment center was a little worn, but served it's purpose. There was no tub just an oversized glass shower. The room was mostly quiet even with the construction nearby and the bed was comfy. After unpacking we went to the Atrium level where all the action was. They had a McDonalds with a dollar menue, starbucks, Nathan's hot dogs, ice cream, gift shops, etc. The casino flor was loud as expected, but we didn't go there to gamble anyway. We registered to win Criss Angels corvette and went to explore Sin City. The first three nights went smoothly, the maid did a good job of cleaning the little mess we left. Our fourth night we upgraded to the spa suite for an extra $50. We went to the front desk to get our new room keys, bell hop assisted in moving our luggage for us, and we were shocked when we entered our room. We expected a room like we just had, but with a big tub in the corner. What we got was a sitting area with entertainment center mini frig and window, and a half wall seperating the bed, tub and another entertainment center. By now we were wishing we had this room all along. The clover leaf tub had jets, and was elevated next to a second window overlooking the north/east area. A little strip, a little mountains. So beautiful! We ordered something special from room service and it was delivered promptly. We relaxed the rest of the night. When I woke up, the sun reflecting on the mountains was so perfect for a few pictures. Before leaving we headed to the buffet to eat but got a little lost on the way. The food was good, the desserts were wonderful; so many choices. I left some stuff on the seat when we left, but I went right back and got it, they were expecting me. We checked out without waiting in much of a line, gave our bags back to bell hop for a few more hours before leaving. A few other things we liked was the tram that ran from Mandalay Bay, to Luxor to Excalibur. The enclosed walkway between these three hotels, and all the window shopping. The Luxor is part of a large chain constisting of about 10 Vegas hotels. When checking in they gave us a card we could use for anything from shopping to dining and it would be charged to our room instead of paying cash. Though some people might not like this, it kept us from carring alot of cash, and that was nice. We would definatly stay here again, in fact we're thinking April might be nice. <ineedahugfr0my0u -at- cs.com> - Grandview MO USA - Added 01/30/09 - [75.81.28.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/09 - Bad Visit Located at the very shady (north) end of the Strip this aging relic should be avoided at all costs. I do not recommend this for anyone except masochists or people with brat children. <merlynbrit -at- yahoo.com> - USA - Added 12/31/08 - [75.86.173.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/08 - Good Visit We stayed at the Palazzo Monday 12/1/08 and checked out Wednesday 12/3/08. My first trip to Vegas was 1974. I have stayed at 18 different strip hotels on numerous occasions. I always book the standard deluxe Vegas room and take what I get. This trip was with a male friend from work, not my wife. The room fully comped. He gambles a lot. Check in was fast and classy. We were offered the rooms with a view of the strip on higher floors for only $45.00 a night which we declined. Also the money for the $20 trick always looks better in my pocket. Think about this one…. It’s Vegas if you spend more than 7 hours all total in one day, in the room sleeping and changing,,, is Vegas really your kind of town. Cliental: During the day people were nicely dressed, very few t shirts. There were a few children but not many. This hotel does not cater to children. This is a very slow week but from what I could tell the hotel goes after the 35 + crowd that has money to spend and wants to spend it on a fancy room. Hotel: clean all around. Very nice décor, front to back side to side. Hall ways were clean, no room service trays left in a hall way. The guard was at the elevator asking to see room keys 24-7. In the early morning hours 5-6 AM there was a shortage of cocktail waitresses for early morning coffee. Later in the day and night the cocktail waitresses came out in force. The floor plan to walk through the casino is somewhat easy, a big square. The over head signs indicating what direction to head in were alright. A rest room from the table games was a good hike. ROOM: Compared to the standard deluxe rooms in most hotels, this room was big. It should be, it’s a suite. Ours had 2 beds, dressers, ceiling to floor windows. Push a button and the drapes opened and closed, push a button and the shades went up and down. L shaped cough, coffee table flat screen. The other flat screen was in front of the beds. Over priced, mini bar. Large enough closet, complementarily robes to ware, safe in the room no charge. The bath room was big enough. There was his and hers sinks, separate make up table, mirror and chair. There was a separate area for the sit down with a door. There was a small flat screen in the bathroom. No sitting ledge in the shower. The soaking tub was separate no bubbles. I did not see Mouth wash, q-tips or a hair dryer, the hair dryer had to be someplace but with no hair to dry I didn’t look hard for it.. The shampoos and soaps were just fine, better than most hotels. Staff. From check in to check out everyone was nice, willing to please. The maids kept the room clean; there were chocolates on the night stand. The staff always said hello to me in the hall ways. Dealers thanked me for every $1.00 tip they got. The casino cocktail waitress, were always friendly. Shops – One gift store on the main floor. Up the escalator and there was a huge mall area that is connected to the Venetian, Very expensive shops. Spa: Was going to go there, didn’t go there. Canyon Ranch $40 a day for work out area, steam and shower, I felt it was over priced Food: Is the food over priced? To me the answer is yes a little but then we only ate in the coffee shop. But, remember, what doesn’t cost a lot to one person is over priced to someone else. Pancakes if I remember $8.50 for a huge short stack.. compared to the mirages $10.00 for the same thing. Casino: Plenty of floor space nothing squeezed in. Machines. Lots of penny machines play 40 lines for 20 coins per line play extra lines win the progressive penny slot. ( no comment) No sticky buttons the currency accepter always took my money. Black Jack; I did see a couple $10.00 tables in the morning hours. At night, the limit went up to $15.00. Roulette; I believe the combined minimum bet on roulette was $10.00. Craps I don’t play, Video Poker, jacks or better, for dollars the best pay scale to be found was 8/5. That’s in line with the Mirage. ( Wynn has 9/6). Poker Room, nice size,,, Sports Book, I never found it. Comps I signed up for the card. I didn’t play enough on the machines to get any free play. ( this is a good thing) To be rated at the tables it’s $25.00 a hand. My table play covered the $80.00 we charged to the room for food. Now I’ll sit back and see what post card and email offers come in. Slot play is, 1 point for every 1 dollar in. VP is 1 point for every 3 dollars in. No idea what a point is worth. I believe it was 2500 points before you earned something like $15.00 in free play. Pool- I actually went to the pool and looked at it, just in case I want to return with the wife,,,, Ms. Pool Queen. It’s nice all 5 or 7 of them, 2 hot tubs. There were people there, laying around on lounges in swim suits. The over all - Be prepared to run up $150.00 to $200.00 in additional expenses a day if you eat 3 square meals a day in the hotel. Different people have different expectations. To me The Palazzo had a slower more relaxing resort atmosphere about it. The room was above and beyond my expectations. The rooms were nicer than the rooms at the Wynn. I came to the conclusion, it was a good trip, but it was missing that buzz of excitement, the Palazzo was not a fun hotel for me. What’s fun for one may not be fun for someone else. Is fun playing tic tac toe against a chicken? Is sitting in the lounge just off the casino floor watching a rocking band for the cost of a $6.50 drink fun for you,,, or is sitting on your couch in your room watching a flat screen fun for you ? I did enjoy the resort, it’s very nice, very classy. I might go back with the wife, once, so she could check out the pool, providing they offered me the room for around $115.00. <ts1495 -at- aol.com> - IL USA - Added 12/29/08 - [64.12.117.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/08 - Good Visit Stayed in mid December of 2008.
