The MGM Grand Lion Habitat features multilevel areas for the pride lions to play and interact with the public, which is less than 1 1/2 inches away. The Lion Habitat's pond and four waterfalls are for the lions enjoyment, along with tunnels and a canyon to prowl over, under, and through. The Lion Habitat allows direct contact with Lions for photographs, with the hope that visitors will donate to organizations that save the wild habitats for the lions. It's a small space but pretty awesome. When I was there the lion jumped over the enclosed glass walkway and sat right on top of it. It was pretty cool..like everyone said, if you like the zoo you will like this.

- Good We just happened to get there just as the lions arrived at 11am which was perfect. We spent half an hour watching the lions drinking from a waterfall and playing with the keepers and chasing balls. This is obviously the best time to go as we've been before, on a previous visit, later in the day and they were sleeping.

- Good Just like the zoo where the lions are sleeping so were they here. The only good thing was that one of the lions was laying on the glass right over our head sleeping so we got a big look that way. But I prefer animals that are roudy and boisterous and being animals. Um I guess I should stick to monkeys.

- Undecided Yawn. This was just so-so. If you have kids, they would probably enjoy watching the lions, but be warned that the lions may not be out when you visit. Also, there is no show, so whatever the lions feel like doing is what you see. (Which I personally feel is how it should be.) Not bad, but don't fret over making an out-of-the-way trip for it.

- Bad Please don't go here, I'm not a PETA member or anything, but the lion habitat is awful, just a small rocky glass cage, that has flaming flouresent lights, and gwakers. I felt so bed for the lions, they have to spend their twenty years in this crappy box instead of fifteen in Africa. Zoos are much better, the cages are big w/ water and vegitation, and most of the animals there are rescued, these lions just got unlucky.

- Good We really enjoyed this free attraction. It’s very nicely designed and the lions are treated well. Each spends only a few hours there per week. The lions pay no attention to the watchers, and you can see them up close.
We were lucky enough to show up first when three 7-month-old cubs were playing with their handlers, then again when two young lioness sisters were napping and wrestling right on top of the plexiglass tunnel that you walk through. That was as close as I ever want to be to a lion’s gaping mouth!

- Good Nice view of the lions. And its FREE! Sometimes the animals are active, sometimes they are just asleep. So its a 50/50 shot when you go see them.

We were recently in Las Vegas 04/05 and stayed at the MGM Grand. Everyday I would go the lion habitat to watch the lions. I got some really good pictures of them playing and lying around. The only thing I was upset about was when I went to get my picture made with cubs their camera was broke and they were not sure when it would be repaired. So I missed out on getting my pictures made with cubs. Other than that I really enjoyed the habitat. I definitely recommend seeing the habitat.

- Bad I was appalled at the animal cruelty shamelessly displayed in this casino. They have a full grown lion in a small glass cage with nothing but a ball to keep him company. Onlookers were gawking at this poor creature who was obviously uncomfortable being looked at and bored to death in such a small cage. It brought tears to my eyes to see this horrible sight and ruined the rest of my night. Children should not see this type of animal abuse. I refused to play in the casino and will not set foot inside it again. People should boycott this casino until the animal abuse is remedied.

- Good The FREE part(watching) was neat, worth the trip inside. We decided to get our picture taken with the cub for $25. The sign outside said cd's are availible, so we asked the cashier, she said it would be $30. We both decided that was a good deal, $5 for a cd right???? WRONG.... 30 EXTRA for a CD with ONE picture on it. So we skipped the CD and scaned it in the computer when we got home. Overall, 25 bucks for a picture and a chance to pet the cub was worth it, the CD was too steep even for Vegas.

- Good It is a good free attraction but you should not go out of your way to see it. If you happen to be inside the MGM it is worth taking a look at. The only reason it is not great is because the lions are caged up in a really small area and there is not much room for them to interact.

- Good We had a wonderful checking out the habitat several times a day to see which lions were in residence at that time.
It was a lot of fun to watch those big cats even when they were sleeping. We were fortunate to be there the first time that a pair of cubs, Chili and Pepper, were introduced to the habitat. It was a complete hoot, watching them play like 60# kittens, chasing large balls and playing in the waterfalls.
It is well worth the walk whether or not you are staying at the MGM Grand. Lions are BIG cats! When one opens a big golden eye and looks at you, you quickly remember that they are wild animals.

- Good The Lion Habitat is EXCELLENT!!! The trainers and the presenters are EXTRAORDINARY!! You can tell the Lions are loved and well taken care of and very spoiled. It's a wonderful sight. Those that feel sorry for the Lions or bad for them, is because they don't take the time to LISTEN and find out about them. They just look and assume and you know what it means when you assume, the first 3 letters of that word says it all. The Lions are very content and happy and living a life I wish I could live. They're NOT drugged, they're not BORED. The traniers hold degrees to work with the Lions and only use their hands and voices to direct them, Lions naturally sleep 18 to 20 hrs a day, no matter where they live, which by the way is not at the MGM, but on a 9-acre ranch. They are hand fed, played with and given affection. I've lived here a year and have been going faithfully EVERYDAY just to see them. I know the trainers and the presenters and unlike most, I took the time to get some insight before making DUMB assumptions. I question some of the guests and their questions, but not the Love and Care of the Lions. They are in EXCELLENT hands at the Habitat and the Ranch. THEY ARE DISPLAY! DISPLAY! LIONS, NOT SHOW LIONS! so if they are not doing anything then that's fine. Display means they are there to see not perform. I THINK IT'S ABSOLUTELY GREAT! The kids are smarter than the adults and ask more sensible questions.

- Good It's free, so I don't know how anyone can complain. I stayed at the MGM, so we walked past the exibit a lot. Sometimes they were just sleeping, but other times the trainers were playing with them and they were fantastic to watch! For people worried about confined space, they rotate the lions throughout the day so each set of lions isn't in there for more than 5 hours a day. It was fun and a nice distraction.

- Good THE LIONS WERE BEAUTIFUL AND A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO THE HOTEL. I WOULD LOVE TO BE ONE OF THOSE HANDLERS. I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING THEY ARE HEALTHY AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND ARE ONE OF THE REASONS I CHOSE THAT HOTEL FOR MY UPCOMING TRIP. I STOOD THERE FOR A WHILE ADORING THOSE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES AND BOUGHT A SHIRT. INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING, PEOPLE SHOULD BE GREATFUL THAT SOME TAKES CARE OF THEM AND THEY ARE OUT OF THE WILD WHERE WHEY ARE NOT TAKEN CARE OF AND WE CAN LEARN TO APPRECIATE THEM MORE IF WE CAN SEE THEM MORE. AND KIDS WILL LOVE THE ATTRACTION.

- Good This setup is plenty big enough for the 2-3 cats brought in each day, but I agree that it doesn't handle human crowds so well! But there's lots of window space for viewing (you don't have to go inside the halls to see them) and the price can't be beat. Combine this with the excellent Rainforest Cafe in the same building for a fun family outing in the afternoon.

- Good It's pretty amazing that there is an exibit in the middle of a casino, but it's VERY small, not nearly matching the hype. the closest we got was in the tunnel of glass, we crammed in like cattle, they should open the store side and have people keep moving! One chic had on enough perfume to choke us all!

- Undecided Somewhat small exhibit of lions that always seem to be sleeping. Anyone who has ever been to one of the nicer metropolitan zoos around the country has already seen the same thing if not better. Ok if you're looking to kill a little time and the lines aren't long. Personally, I wouldn't bother if the line is more than 15 minutes long. Small children will probably enjoy it more than adults and teens.

- Good Every time we were in the MGM we stopped by to see the different lions. Once they were sleeping, once they were playing ball with the trainers and once the trainers were feeding them and encouraging them to stand close to the glass for viewing and pictures. I got some great photos. We always enjoyed it! Listen to the announcer, she had very interesting facts and tidbits.
